Last week, Karachi ATC could not issue the acquittal order in the case of Dr Mahrang Baloch because the stenographer was on holiday. This week, two judges were on holiday so our judge was overburdened. Unfortunately, the FIR in question is so flawed (filed by a criminal, outdated charges, Mahrang was on the other side of town), that the judge cannot rule in the state’s favour even if it wants to. But it can’t rule in Mahrang’s either so a holiday it is. Mahrang’s words to the Karachi Bar this time last year have been proven right.
