so we just found out Soundcloud made their codec better and reverted it back for no reason

here's the difference between the "better" codec (left) they supposedly implemented then took back out vs youtube (right, full freq range). I suspect all they did is change the bitrate of the broken AAC codec they use, which may affect the cutoff, but is still bad regardless :(

you can go check yourself, just find a song between dec 2024 and mid march 2025, and then find a song out of that range and youllhear the difference its actually crazy
