Man I really wanted this scene cuz I remember in RTTE they said Maces and Talons was also a way of testing how fit to be chief a person was. And even if RTTE isn't movie canon and this isn't M&T, it woulda been the same concept but in canon

im guessing thats how hiccup was familiar with maces and talons after he saw the board in the dragon hunter ship in RTTE

It's so tragic this scene was cut. It's one of the best instances of the movie's messaging being projected. "Always use the mind before the sword" might've cleared up the ending for so many people. 😭
