At the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, I spoke on the grave human rights situation in Balochistan. The ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances was raised, where individuals are taken without due process and families remain without answers. Cases of extrajudicial killings and body dumping were highlighted as serious violations that continue in the absence of accountability. The shrinking civic space was also addressed. Journalists, students, lawyers, and human rights defenders continue to face harassment, arbitrary detention, and legal action under counterterrorism laws. The continued detention of activists, Several BYC Leaders including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, reflects the broader effort to silence peaceful voices seeking justice. A call was made for an independent and impartial assessment by the United Nations into the human rights situation in Balochistan.
