It's mostly sad that a software engineer is down to $85k. FFS, this was starting wage for a software engineer in 2004. Also a college degree will qualify you for better jobs but I've never met a person who is a better worker or employee (or smarter) because of a degree.

I am assuming this is a bit But I had similar conversations with people during and immediately after college. It was normally a girlfriend or fiancé complaining that her Engineer/accountant or similar job boyfriend was making more than her and she was a teacher or art student. And if you suggest that she could make more if she chose the same path as him she just calls you a sexist (normally screaming).

i don't care if you have no degree and want to be a landscaper. if you can make 150k+ a year doing that, more power to you and if you have a degree and only make 60k you need to bone up on some skills so can make more it's not what you want, it's what the market will support
