If you look closely there was smoke already coming out from the roof.I don't think the fire even started from the Panels may be they were engulfed in the inferno.

The fire was already brewing from inside. Let's stop these agendas on solar panels. The fire started inside not on the panels.

Alabi from what I see the smoke started else where. Fire started from else where in the house. It engulfed the roof from inside. The solar panels had nothing to do with the fire. 🔥

Panels don’t just catch fire randomly. Most solar-related fires happen because of poor installation or bad inverters.

@bizzleosikoya From the first few seconds of the video, smoke is seen emanating from the part of the roof lower than where the solar panels are located. Fire started from within the house, room by the balcony, but because Nigerians are alarmists averse to innovation, we blame the Solar Panels.

What a tragedy 😭 If Nigeria was working why would anybody even need this on their roof in the first place

Even abroad. And worse in Nigeria because we have zero product enforcement. Walmart and Tesla went at it.

Due to misconceptions flying around concerning the mounting of solar panels on roof This week will be dedicated to educating ourselves concerning the do and don't to avoid fire outbreak also want to note that mounting solar panels on roof is absolutely safe you can do your research That by the way Are solar panels flammable? Short answer: No. Solar panels are built with tempered glass and aluminum frames — they don’t easily catch fire. In fact, they are designed to withstand extreme heat and harsh weather. Most fire incidents linked to solar systems are not caused by the panels themselves, but by poor installation, substandard cables, or wrong inverter/battery connections. The real risk is not solar. The real risk is bad workmanship. This week, we’ll break down: • Fire safety facts • Proper mounting standards • Quality materials vs. fake components • Why professional installation matters

The fire was coming from the inside not the panels

Whatever you do, do not compromise on getting quality cables and qualified Solar Engineer.

Solar panels are flammable but I don’t think it’s the cause of this incident. But it definitely occur when you didn’t use a professional to handle the solar project for you.

Millions lost just like that.

Omg, this will definitely change a lot of people's perspective wether to use solar system or not

That is the issue, most Nigerians think panels are the only problem. Lithium batteries is gradually destroying properties in Nigeria without any regulatory body to checkmate the manufacturers but because many of us are just after portable looking installation, we endanger ourselves.

Yes the cables if connected the wrong way, or too much heat on the inverter. Talking from experience tho, I was quick to seeing the fire that’s why the fire was not much

@knnpreye That doesn’t look like the panels burning, smoke already coming from under the zinc meaning fire already started inside the building.

There are different products to consider, product enforcement, safety precautions, installation, wiring……. But the smoke started from inside the building rather than on the solar panel. The government need to as a matter of urgency start looking into this

@grok what can cause and what are the disadvantages of solar panels

It's definitely not the Solar panel Something is already burning inside. That's why the Steam is coming out through the roof

lol, so if them no tell you, you no go reason am like power bank. If you hear explosion, just run first

Of course they are. I witnessed one very to me last month and it was really really bad. It is primarily caused by improper installation, faulty components, or electrical faults rather than the technology itself.

Wow

AY

I think when the battery overcharge it can cause fire. When the owners are not at home, They should totally disconnect the solar from charging through sun or electricity

First getting to know this.

Wrong connection, Bad wire or probably not solar related

Yes my neighbours house burnt down that way

Reasons..... Most engineers don't use the normal original solar panel wire which is double core. They use single wires, maybe 4mm, 6mm, 10mm singles.... Then they do their connections. But the thing is this. ..

Fire service here 😂… by the time they get into action, half your property is already gone.

This is clout yea ? Because that fire didn’t start from the solar panels . That smoke was coming from inside and was already getting bigger hence the Big Bang .
