It is high time Greater Chennai Corporation powers its street lights with solar energy, especially during such emergency blackouts, cyclones and other natural disasters. GCC maintains around 3.01 lakh street lights in the city now. Engineers say that there are street lights with individual panels on which light energy is converted to electricity to power the lights. This will also reduce electricity bills in the long run. It can be alternated with the usual power supply too. What do you all think? #Solar #Chennai TANGEDCO Official

I believe China's production capacity on solar is 1500 gigawatts a year, and they're deploying over 1000 gigawatts a year of solar. US power usage on average is 500 gigawatts. China, just in solar can provide steady state power, and batteries can do half of the US electricity output per year just with solar."
