Another alternative response would be that Islamophobia is a made up word to silence dissent against Islam. It’s impossible to have an irrational fear of a set of ideas, which is what Islam is fundamentally. The term Islamophobia is actually an anti-western catchphrase. Nothing is more anti-west than the free exchange of ideas.
