For years, illegal fishing activities continued along Somalia’s coasts, preventing the country from fully benefiting from its rich marine resources. Yet Somalia possesses one of the largest and most productive fishing areas in Africa. At this point, Somalia is preparing to achieve full control over its maritime domain through a strong partnership with Türkiye. With Türkiye’s support, maritime security will be strengthened, resources will be protected, and the fishing sector will be transformed into a sustainable source of income. Through this cooperation, Somalia will bring its natural wealth into the economy, increase employment, raise the standard of living of its people, and take an important step toward building its future on its own terms.

Argentina has deployed it's entire Navy to tackle the menace of illegal Chinese fishing boats swarming inside it's territory. However, this has changed nothing. The Chinese fishing boats continue to illegally swarm inside Argentinian territory & steal away the scarce fishing resources. Hundreds of Chinese Fishing Vessels swarm inside Argentina's territory each day. The Chinese fishing boats hunt for giant squid, which are abundant along the Argentine coast and a vital food source in the marine ecosystem. At night, many of these fishing vessels turn on bright lights to lure squid to the surface, where they are harvested using a large net. The lights are so strong that they can be seen from space. What Chinese Distant Water Fishing Vessels are doing inside the Exclusive Economic Zones of Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Panama and other South American nations, is surely not industrial fishing. This is a well organised plunder of marine resources, funded and facilitated by the Chinese State. Chinese fishing militia is not only threatening the economies of these nations that depend heavily on the export of fisheries, they are also threatening the food security and the delicate marine biodiversity and ecology. Often clashing with the local navies and coast guards, the Chinese fishing militia has grown to become one of the greatest security risk in South America. China's Global Fishing Offenses need to be addressed.
