At that time, it was acknowledged by several countries and entered the international community as a sovereign entity. Only days later, Somaliland voluntarily united with Somalia, a union that was never properly ratified and ultimately collapsed. Following years of conflict and injustice, Somaliland reasserted its sovereignty in 1991, restoring the independence it had previously held. Since then, Somaliland has built its own government, maintained peace and security, and functioned as a stable, self-governing state for over three decades.
