Lots of good points being made on both sides in the replies: - Marte is an obvious vibes guy / friend of Soto's - Huge clutch guy in last year's playoff run - Baty's trade value diminishes with zero options left End of the day, the Mets had a good problem here w/ too much talent

Little early to give up on Marte, he looked pretty good all playoffs.

Maybe. There's no easy answer. But the Mets have a ton of position players who will be ready for MLB time soon. I don't think Marte is on the roster at season's end anyway.

Honestly, I think it’s a little unfair that you categorize Marte in a “Cano-like DFA.” Cano was with the old regime and the statement that being made at the time was that Cohen wasn’t messing around and cleaning house. Additionally, with the prior PED suspensions, Cano possibly didn’t have the same relationship with the front office as Marte does. I know you stated that you are well aware about Marte’s clubhouse presence and what he means to the team. I’m going to ride the coatails of @Hustlediva1’s comment about Mate’s realationship with Soto. I think it’s important to have him around for that reason. Especially now that Siri is down within who is another close friend to Soto.

Marte is close to Soto, they wouldn’t wanna mess that chemistry up on Sotos first season. So sadly we have to keep the 37 yr old with the least tools left over young Baty. For now.

End of the day it's a long term roster crunch. Baty can be sent down and still be with the organization, Marte cannot. Removing a RH DH option means one less option if Vientos gets hurt. Unfortunately besides 3 or 4 games, Baty did not impress. wRC+ under 80 for the year

I’m a big vibes guy along side what they do on the field, and I am absolutely NOT getting rid of one of the clubhouse vibes guy. I trust Marte in big AB’s more than I do Baty, so to me it was a no brainer to send down Baty.

Had similar (hyperbolic) thoughts. Everything we’ve seen Baty is that he takes this types of thing in stride. Knew he was fighting for a spot, didn’t get the opening day start, mostly rode the bench, started the season BAD. But he has been there with the energy every time.

Starling defintely don’t looked over matched, he’s a starter playing a very limited role, that’s very hard. Baty just doesn’t fit on this team Mark took his spot. It’s sad but not unfortunate, baty will have a good career somewhere else

Marte was huge for us in the playoffs last year. Not nearly ready to give up on him yet.
