The cheapest way to fight climate change and ecological disaster is to take care of your things instead of buying new stuff! And if you have to buy, buy second hand!

in theory I understand how invisibly mending knitwear works but not in a million years would I have the precision and focus, that blows my mind

‘the seam’ in london and ‘alts’ in nyc are very comparable

The darning (is that the right word?) ones are very satisfying to watch

I have a few sweaters that need this. Is it something your normal alterations tailor can do?

no, you will need to take it to someone who can do invisible mending. if you are based in the United States, contact French American Reweaving in NYC or Without a Trace in Chicago. Both take mail-ins

My nicer pair of cowboy boots have some leather damage on the back, do you know anyone reliable who does those kind of repairs in the United States? Heel repairs are easy and I've seen a bunch of options but I don't know how to tell who's good.

Contact B. Nelson in NYC. They take mail-ins. Send a photo first to see if this is something they can repair.

I've saved this vid about 8 times now in the hope to eventually tackle the mending pile. As a lifelong knitter, the anchoring of stray stitches with pins has blown my mind.

Honestly, it's like people don't know how to do a little Google research. I found a place less than a 15 minute drive away that did transformational leatherwork on my tired expensive boots and designer handbags. There are a lot of craftsmen who do excellent work all over.
