Even with their in house engine, CDPR's games launch with major issues, some of which require specific mods to improve quality. I think they're not great with optimisation. I do hope to be wrong and that they learned their lessons but with what happened with TW3R on PS5.. idk

I think main reason of their migration was better testing across different platforms but UE comes with its own fair share of performance issues if not optimized well.

Wrong. UE5 IS CDPR’s new in house engine. They have been pouring a ton of development into it as part of their cooperative agreement with Epic.

Ahhh... I can't remember once that games have lived up to what we used to call "bullshots" in demos and screenshots. Not on single time. I don't think they are gonna start now 🫤

the sad real truth to them choosing ue5 is because the competence left the company and the current employees has no interest in learning that aspect of game development. The technical development. This is why they hire studios that has the old employees, such as fools theory.

I am not worried about The Witcher 4 as CD Projekt Red aren't just developing the game in Unreal Engine 5 they are developing Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4,5 & 6 and were Forged in the Fires of Fan Backlash while releasing the Broken Cyberpunk 2077

I know they're different types of games, but The Coalition just did a pretty good job with Gears. And given the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk, I think better performance near the top of the list of priorities. We'll just have to wait and see

The only game that can match Red Dead Redemption 2 level of details is Intergalactic & not Witcher 4. No matter how hard W4 tries, it will be limited by Unreal Engine 5. On the other hand like RDR2, Intergalactic has in-house engine & we have seen the level of details in TLOU2.

The fact that CDPR willingly showed this Witcher 4 tech demo as an Unreal Engine 5 showcase means they have already set the expectations accordingly for Witcher 4. If Witcher 4 doesn't look like this or play like this, it will be the same situation of overpromising that Cyberpunk 2077 had and I feel like there's going to be some backlash. It is a "Technical Representation - Not Actual Gameplay" but I struggle to understand what was the point of flexing the engine if the final product wont be identical to this, other than hyping the game up? Witcher 4 is still in development, so of course I expect changes that are visual, map changes, animations and character models, otherwise Witcher 4 should incorporate all the features they showed in this demo like: >multi character motion matching >muscle deformation >high foliage density >realistic NPC crowds >a responsive world >good performance (no UE5 stutters) >seamless NPC interactions and cutscenes I'd be disappointed in CDPR if these features didn't make it to the final product because it would seem that they haven't learned their lesson after Cyberpunk 2077.

Bro I refuse to believe these NPC interactions in Witcher 4 are real after watching that Cyberpunk 2077 E3 Demo. I know this is UE5 and not RED Engine but it looks too good to be true, that's why I won't get myself too excited until the Game comes out. If CDPR delivers this as promised, Witcher 4 and future Games like Cyberpunk 2 are going to be absolutely incredible.

We cut no corners during the production of The Witcher 4. In April, I went to the beautiful Vienna Synchron Stage to track first game cues as well as material for the recently published tech demo. They do know music in Vienna, gotta tell you that.

Witcher 4 showcase in 2025 was only a tech demo, however if the real gameplay manages to have this level of fluidity as shown in this demo, then I'm confident that by the time Cyberpunk 2 comes out in the future, it will be the closest thing we'll get to a Rockstar Games level of fluidity, realism and gameplay in a modern open world game. I can't put it into words but if you've played Red Dead Redemption 2 and went on to play other AAA games, it always felt like those games were a step behind. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how much different Witcher 4 will look compared to the tech demo when it comes out in the future, it definitely looks promising.

Clutch will be using UE5 with a custom physics engine for aspects such as: - Tire temperature - grip levels - suspension - etc. From what I've seen the game is very gorgeous and didn't seem that have that UE5 stutter that I've seen in other open world unreal engine games

There are constant remarks about Ciri being a Witcher, or wanting to be a Witcher, or being raised as one. If Ciri becoming a Witcher was a surprise to you, or if it didn't feel like the best and most obvious direction forward for the franchise, I just think you weren't paying attention.
