They did not “give” Anfield to Liverpool; they walked away from a landlord they no longer wanted to deal with.  Liverpool FC (through Houlding’s company and then the club itself) has owned the ground for well over a century. Anfield is wholly owned by The Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Limited. Everton do not own the land, the stands, or the pitch, and they cannot “take it back.”
