Did you know there is a leg extension surgery that makes you taller? This man started at 5’7” and had multiple surgeries. He ended up well over 6’ tall. Some reports 6’5”. But at what price (surgeries cost upwards of $170k)? He couldn’t walk for months after each surgery. There are also many side effects that could leave people on permanent crutches. I wonder if it was worth it.

People keep saying, "You've been talking about her for two years, and she hasn't said anything." So what exactly are you expecting me to do? Stay silent and pretend nothing happened? Am I not allowed to speak about how I feel I was used and betrayed in that marriage? Am I not allowed to talk about my own pain, my experiences, what I lost, or how I believe I was lured into coming to this country? Why is it that some people believe only one side should have a voice? Some of you are uncomfortable because these issues are now in the public domain. You would rather everyone acted as though nothing ever happened and quietly moved on. But that's not how life works. People process painful experiences differently, and some choose to speak about them. If you expected complete silence after everything that happened, then you're going to be disappointed. This journey isn't over yet. And yes I just recovered my old phone today.

The only thing that could've made it better is Catherine slapping the smug right off her face. Now that would've been the cherry on top. Americans have terrible cultural constructs around aging. For instance, I notice a trend amongst my friends entering their 30s & 40s where I'll invite them to do a fun, adventurous thing, and some will say things like, "Sounds amazing, but I feel too old for that kind of thing now." Huh? In Spain and Berlin, I saw mothers bringing their babies to bars and concerts to hang out with their adult friends. Meanwhile, the people I party the most with these days are a crew of dancers mostly over 50. "They must be societal dropouts or something" you might be thinking. But the opposite is true. One is CEO of a perfume company. Another is a doctor and professor at NYU. Another is a travel show host who just came with me to a 7am rave yesterday. The list continues: advertising executives, restaurant owners, etc. And most have kids. These people are still doing adulthood. They just haven't given up their vital spark. Things seem especially bad for older American women. There's this idea that you age out of being beautiful, that beauty is only for the young. This is bs. The older dancer women I'm talking about are still smokin', and I see them get hit on. Granted, there may be certain *kinds* of beauty that are for the young. But we generally under-appreciate how magnetic an older woman can be...if she's able to internally defy the American idea that older women are unattractive. In France, it seems like a lot of praise focuses on allure, charme, elegance, and idioms like "avoir du chien" – roughly, having a spark. None of those are indexed to youth the way "cute" or "hot" are in our culture. I gather that an aging French woman can move into a different type of attractiveness rather than just giving up on the erotic and romantic aspects of life altogether. I wonder what's wrong with us. Why do we believe that becoming older also means becoming boring and unattractive?

I live in Buncombe County, where Asheville NC is located. I used to live in Asheville city proper, but moved further out, mainly due to crime. The city has fallen off a cliff, everyone knows it. Homeless people are EVERYWHERE, in every park, taking shits on the street, st*bbing people with needles, doing very little jail time. Almost every city park in Asheville is now overun with the homeless. They live there... in tents. Under pavilions. They do drugs and pass out and then scream at people. You cannot take your kids there, it's horrifying. ...and the city council has zero interest in fixing the problems because they have no incentive to do so The last Republican elected to city council in Asheville was in 2009 and there hasn't been another one since. All these people do are protest and posture and demand more in taxes. I was liberal and I was in favor of a lot of the policies, especially around homelessness... I was extremely sympathetic. Honestly? I still am sympathetic. But the solutions being offered are not solutions, they are shoveling money out the door to NGOs that have no incentives WHATSOEVER to fix the problems. All the incentives are align to keep homelessness alive and to make it even worse. Bus loads of homeless people arrive in Asheville for this VERY REASON. It's horrible for tourism, horrible for families... AND YES, it's horrible for the homeless too. It isn't kind to just pretend people can sleep on the streets and everything is ok. A HUGE NUMBER of homeless people were hit by cars last year, so much so that they banned begging for money on some city streets because SO MANY homeless were getting hit with cars. It's terrible. I once said the word, "homeless" here and someone got offended and said, "DO YOU MEAN THE UN-HOUSED?!!!!" So yeah, things are not great. But they will continue to vote for liberals who will keep these policies alive. They tried to defund the police too, they demonized them so severely that 40% of officers just left. Police officers come and talk to me all the time about how frustrated they are that they have to constantly arrest the same people over and over again. One officer said he literally arrests 3 generations of family criminals... IN ONE DAY. It breaks my heart because there are SO MANY good people here. I saw it first-hand after Hurricane Helene, people stepped up in a BIG WAY. I live in Buncombe County, where Asheville NC is located. I used to live in Asheville city proper, but moved further out, mainly due to crime. The city has fallen off a cliff, everyone knows it. Homeless people are EVERYWHERE, in every park, taking shits on the street, st*bbing people with needles, doing very little jail time. Almost every city park in Asheville is now overun with the homeless. They live there... in tents. Under pavilions. They do drugs and pass out and then scream at people. You cannot take your kids there, it's horrifying. ...and the city council has zero interest in fixing the problems because they have no incentive to do so The last Republican elected to city council in Asheville was in 2009 and there hasn't been another one since. All these people do are protest and posture and demand more in taxes. I was liberal and I was in favor of a lot of the policies, especially around homelessness... I was extremely sympathetic. Honestly? I still am sympathetic. But the solutions being offered are not solutions, they are shoveling money out the door to NGOs that have no incentives WHATSOEVER to fix the problems. All the incentives are align to keep homelessness alive and to make it even worse. Bus loads of homeless people arrive in Asheville for this VERY REASON. It's horrible for tourism, horrible for families... AND YES, it's horrible for the homeless too. It isn't kind to just pretend people can sleep on the streets and everything is ok. A HUGE NUMBER of homeless people were hit by cars last year, so much so that they banned begging for money on some city streets because SO MANY homeless were getting hit with cars. It's terrible. I once said the word, "homeless" here and someone got offended and said, "DO YOU MEAN THE UN-HOUSED?!!!!" So yeah, things are not great. But they will continue to vote for liberals who will keep these policies alive. They tried to defund the police too, they demonized them so severely that 40% of officers just left. Police officers come and talk to me all the time about how frustrated they are that they have to constantly arrest the same people over and over again. One officer said he literally arrests 3 generations of family criminals... IN ONE DAY. It breaks my heart because there are SO MANY good people here. I saw it first-hand after Hurricane Helene, people stepped up in a BIG WAY.
