The escalating situation in Kasarani is deeply concerning. Our team of Advocates has been unable to gain access to Kasarani Police Station, where some Kenyans are being held, as the roads have been barricaded. We take note of reports of several persons who have been beaten up and injured by police. We demand that the National Police Service-Kenya exercise restraint from using excessive force against the people. We have also seen images of police indiscriminately lobbing teargas cannisters in largely residential areas and without provocation. This itself is a breach of the peace and order police are required to maintain.

Some officers were thrown overboard, and were treated by paramedics after being recovered from the water. A fire service boat could be seen towing the police boat down the River Thames away from Westminster Bridge.
