im just a network engineer standing in front of other network engineers asking them to apply for a position at this rocket company (don’t make me regret posting this on twitter again, dudes)

"Probably 99% of the backlash to data centers has come in areas where building a data center means higher utility and higher electricity for the people on the ground." Vice President JD Vance responds to the criticism against AI data centers in some communities.

The io.net (old account) network is growing. One of our data center partners is expanding their committed supply in the network with 72 A4000 GPUs. From supporting Apple silicon chips to bringing on top of the line hardware from data centers across the world, is creating the largest decentralized GPU network in the world to serve AI and ML workloads.

"The most important thing in the next 3-4 years is data centers in space. In every way, data centers in space, from a first principles perspective, are superior to data centers on earth. In space, you can keep a satellite in the sun 24 hours a day. The sun is 30% more intense, which results in six times more irradiance than on Earth. So you don't need a battery. The cooling in these data centers is incredibly complicated. Space cooling is free. You just put a radiator on the dark side of the satellite. The only thing faster than a laser going through a fiber optic cable is a laser going through absolute vacuum. Link satellites with lasers, and you have a faster and more coherent network than any data center on Earth."

In the next two years, AI data centers will not only cause electric bills to soar, but are expected to generate the same emissions as driving over 300 billion miles — or 1,600 round trips to the sun from Earth. We need a moratorium on the construction of new AI data centers.

It’s engineering reality: to keep AI processors from melting, data centers "drink" millions of gallons of Texas water daily. As a mechanical engineer, I see a system out of balance. While families face shortages, the RRC lets AI billionaires drain our aquifers without a plan.
