Some years ago, I’d have termed everything he said as “crap.”

@OpeFoodCritic I absolutely agree. It might seem classist but it is easier to grow together and even raise children when you have shared values because of similar socio-economic stratum, similar education, etc

@OpeFoodCritic ❤️

@OpeFoodCritic He made a point, but I still feel he's talking from the privileged kid perspective, we should ask ourselves, how many people are up there or on your wealth level, the ratio is by far not balanced to implement this. Life has no manual, you can fall in love with anybody.

@OpeFoodCritic That’s why he said, “marry/date people higher or a little below YOUR class.” He didn’t say you have to be rich; he said, your partner must at least be striving like you.

@OpeFoodCritic If you find the order gender beneath this video ma baff naked 🫣

@OpeFoodCritic 😭😭😭

@OpeFoodCritic What he should have said that would have made sense is to marry a woman who understands the value of money, a smart woman, not a dullard. A lot of women out there are just mere consumers who can’t use 10 to make 20.

He makes a lot of sense, however, the problem here is not because Nigerian men married down, first of all, Nigerian men marry their type, the poor marry the poor, the rich marry the rich, only Nollywood will show you otherwise. Now the main problem is most poor Nigerian men are insecure, they don't allow their wives to work, and the ones that allow their wives to work don't want to see their wives more successful than them. These types of men are wired to feel the only way to make a woman love and be submissive is by having money. They see independent women as a threat, hence they go for their level, the reason it feels like they "married down"

There's sense in this, Nigerian men always like to marry down, and it's all because of the respect they get from these lower class women who can't do anything on their own except their men does it for them.... Some women will even be doing daily or weekly contribution it's the man that still pays it.... They have nothing going on for them, dependent women.

@OpeFoodCritic This reminds me of the question my boyfriend asked me two days ago😭 like this is someone we’ve been talking about settling down oo 🫣 ‘he said babe, what can you offer me in this marriage?’ I chocked. You know when you have an in-depth conversation with your partner about life😫
