Hey, I’m the creator of Git City 🙋🏻‍♂️ thanks for sharing the project.

fun viz but the metrics are gameable - seen entire teams get burned by GH activity as a proxy for quality we tried this in 2019 and found people making empty commits just to light up their 'buildings'. killed it after 2 months

Hey , I also Built a project where you paste a public GitHub repo and it generates a 3D city based on the codebase. CITY OF CODE:

This is delightful but also reveals something about how we visualize contribution. Commits as height implies frequency matters more than impact. Repos as width suggests breadth beats depth. The lit windows metaphor is the strongest; recency bias made visible. I'd love to see this weighted by downstream dependency usage. Some buildings are skyscrapers nobody enters. Others are small structures that entire neighborhoods rest on.

that’s actually insane 😭 imagine your skyline getting taller with every commit… devs would finally touch grass and code fr

3D city of github developers is such a creative visualization More commits equals taller building is a perfect metaphor This is the kind of thing vibe coding enables
