Something about Arkvelds theme... makes me feel like he's sad. It's different from other flagship themes. Nergigantes is bombastic, G. Magalas is intimidating and Dark... Arkvelds, on the other hand... is more mellow... still fast since its a fight, but it feels like He's sad.

It almost contrasts with Gore. One being pure black, Angry and intimidating. While the other is pure white... sad and looming. Arkveld is planning something. What that something Is I have no clue. First genuine flagship where I actually think "what is he plotting?"

another epic track by @SolarHeavy

No I feel it as well and its roar comes off somewhat distressed to me?

Yeah same! It's body movements too are slow and brooding. While you look at other flagships like Gore who's twitchy and looks like it wants to get out of its skin. Arkveld just rubs his chains on the ground. Stairs off into the distance sometimes...

Listening to this part on the full theme in context will be generational I'm sure

Perhaps its roaming and aggression is a lamentation or frustration to potentially being among the last of its kind, trying any and all means to find another.

A game about hordes while the flagship is an extinct species. A game about the wilds while the flagship is chained. Arkveld really has the background to become the best flagship so far.

A theory: Monster Hunter 4 had the frenzy virus that came from Gore Magala (who’s in Wilds). There’s no natural counter in 4 Ult., which lead to humans having to put down Gore Magala to stop the virus, and according to the lore, the frenzy/gore Magala comes in cycles. But there doesn’t seem to be a natural counter to him. Which begs the question: what caused the cycle to stop before humans showed up? What if Arkveld is the natural counter to Gore Magala? (This is from a YouTube video, but I thought it was neat)

It definitely sounds a bit more tragic. Would be cool if Arkveld ends up being what Zorah was in World's story. A monster who didnt mean bad and was doing what was in its nature. Then the secret bad guy monster(s) in high rank will be our real threats like Nergigante was

There is a sadness turning into pain and anger I like these themes that tell a story in MH, more personnal monster themes Like Chaos Gore, sometimes using Gore parts, sometimes Shagaru, you can feel that Chaos is in pain and is fighting an impossible battle within itself

It's the last of it's kind, it has never tasted freedom, bound by the chains the Artian's forged & birthed by there technologies it has no one, nothing, but now that it has freedom it has something, it can exist & become something real...something more.
