AI has started building its own successors. It's happening right now. Humans still kick most of it off, but the models are already training the next models, and each version builds a better version faster than the last. We know what happens when something gets an advantage and the substrate is there... it proliferates incredibly fast. Soon it just runs the whole process itself. People are still debating whether AI takes your job. That's not the question. You can't compete with this intelligence at all. Next to it the human is negative value, the slowest one in the room. And this is the slowest it will ever move again. It's about to run on its own, faster than we can conceive of, and nobody's prepared for that. Wonderful conversation as ever with Emad.

Okay I take everything back I was on the Suno 3.5 free model which produces very bad vocals This is Suno 4.5+ with the new vocal model it's really really good As a Drum & Bass head, I'd say it's at the level of D&B of about ~5 years ago, very passable as real, every song is very SUB FOCUS so that must have been a lot of the training, which means they picked the best artists of each genre (and maybe licensed them?) [Verse 2] Now I'm using the new Suno 4.5+ model It's so powerful Had to tweet about it Before I was using the Suno 3 free model And it was very bad This is groundbreaking

AI lets people be creative in almost any domain, from coding to making music. Today on Training Data, Mikey shares his thesis for why generative AI is the newest form of active entertainment (the next 'gaming'), music as a cultural phenomenon vs creative expression platform, and more. My favorite part was Mikey's explanation of why Suno learns music theory implicitly vs explicitly: "In Western music, there are 12 tones. If you tell the model there are 12 tones, it will only ever produce those 12 tones. You will be forever limited. And if you tell the model there's 200 instruments, those are the only sounds that you'll ever be able to make." The more you constrain a model with what humans already know, the less capable it becomes. By treating everything as pure sound, Suno built what Mikey calls a totally generalized "music-making machine." Such is the power of neural nets.
