Think that's more to do with hiding John Rhys-Davies's body double's face than Gimli's awe,impossible to show Rhys-Davies as the Dwarf in relation to the others. Yet maintain a beautiful single sweeping shot of Shadowfax and the companions,Jackson's a great director for a reason.

Funny because Dwarves always rode goats.
