It's fine to have theories or predictions about the next entry in a series. But when you allow your predictions to solidly into expectations, you will inevitably be disappointed by the reality of what it actually is.

I'm given to understand that Maus 2 came out like a decade after Maus 1 and people were just as blown away. So maybe that's an exception

I find this to also go backwards. I sometimes see sketches of when I was very young and bored in class and I wonder where that creativity and looseness went! Also, I am a fan of the og JDATE, but book 2 stands as my fav to this day. It got better!

“Black Box of Doom” is way different than “JDATE”. There are far fewer uses of the r-slur.
