Something is very wrong with the state education system. Almost every year, we get situations where blatant racism is present inside the school. In a recent incident, a teacher from Kerian has stirred controversy after being recorded telling a student to “go back to China” for struggling with Malay,... later boasting it wasn’t her first time saying it. The incident took place at a SMK, where she doubled down on her biased remarks: “I’ve done it before, so have others—no one’s made a fuss!” “Sure, a 13-year-old not speaking Malay is one issue, but if the parents don’t either? They should just head back to China!” she argued, seemingly oblivious to the flaw in her reasoning. Is there political will to fix this? After so many years, so many different Education Ministers, and so many incidents, I think the answer is No. Teachers holding racist views should not be in the classroom but there appears to be plenty of them in government schools and they appear to be "protected" at the highest political level. There is indeed something very wrong with our education system if 2 generations of Malaysians, regardless of race, cannot speak proper Bahasa Malaysia, our national language - for the younger, upon being in secondary school but apparently, for the parents, now even in adult life? Rather than jumping into the normal bandwagon of pillorying, ridiculing & chastising the exasperated teachers facing this problem, we should look at why Malaysians r not communicating properly in Bahasa Malaysia? Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa is a beautiful encapsulation of how our national language should be a source of unity, a repository of common culture. So when Malaysians fail to even speak Bahasa Malaysia, r they 'berjiwa Malaysia' or Malaysian in spirit? Or r they really truly not? So when people erupt in anger at criticism, however harsh, of Malaysians, young and old, who fail to speak our national language, is that real anger towards perceived racism, or anger to mask an embarrassment and shame that such individuals still purport to be true Malaysians?

Just hope Kementrian Pendidikan @pendidikanmysmy takes immediate and necessary action against the teacher. Shes' failed to realized she is being paid by the rakyat to teach and educate - NOT to be a racist C$NT with her students. Rakyat deserves better.

Is there political will to fix anything in Malaysia at all? I don't quite think so. I suggest letting it be. The most powerful educator in this world is FAFO. A Singapore minister said something recently in Cantonese in parliament. That works well in Malaysia too.

You need to have a good education system, and I believe that 👉 Education should not be extremely expensive. 👉 Education should not be fully privatised. There can be private schools and colleges, but there is a role for good-quality government education, and for that, the government has to put money into the budget for education. So that’s the first thing. The second thing is that you have to create an atmosphere where jobs are being generated - not just jobs in the service industry and the IT industry, but also jobs in manufacturing and small and medium industries - so that they can help in the development of the country and young boys and girls can get jobs here. Her apartment is nearly empty, her refrigerator barely has anything in it at all, she has a car that works when it wants to, so where does all her money go to? The answer is she feels it’s necessary to make sacrifices so that her kids can have everything they need to be excited and engaged about learning. We always hear about how important their jobs are since they are teaching our kids and raising them in for us in many other ways. Since school funding can be tight, instead of teachers having to pay for everything to teach our kids, would it be appropriate or acceptable if at the beginning of the year the parents are charged a small materials fee for each child so teachers don’t have to spend their own money?

So where is the Secretary of Education? Today, there’s a scheduled Matatag Agenda presentation at the Senate. Guess what! The Secretary of Education was not there, neither the Undersecretary who is responsible for the curriculum. They sent someone who is not even in the room when the Secretary approved the curriculum. Lols. This is what I have been saying all along! The Vice President is taking a lot of redundant tasks but cannot be there for matters like the Matatag agenda. That major education reform meant to address the 90% learning poverty. Is she not interested? 🤦🏽‍♀️ If there is one thing in common in every assessment of the K-12 curriculum, it is the fact that it has “too many learning competencies”. And there she is adding peace education because “it’s very close to her heart”. Is she serious?! Later, DepEd cleared out that it’s not another learning competency per se but assurance that peace education is reflected in the curriculum. Senator Pimentel pointed out that just because it is close to the VP’s heart, they have to revisit the whole thing again. Lols. Don’t get me wrong, I supported the appointment of the Vice President as the DepEd Secretary. In my head her political capital and the Marcos-Duterte alliance will finally make education the priority… something we need given our 90% learning poverty. Imagine 9 out of 10 (10 years old) kids cannot read and write. Imagine that! But it seem as though the Vice President’s heart is not in education :( At least that’s how it looks like. Maybe perhaps she can request for a post she really wants instead. Education crisis needs extra time and attention. Nope, we don’t need to see her plant trees for teachers. This American needs to lead the Department of Education “This is my audition to become the head of the US Department of Education - My first act of office will be immediately abolishing the No Child Left Behind Act. Yes, we will be leaving children behind. If they fail a class, they will have to repeat it - My second act is one that I'm very passionate about. We will be bringing zeros back. If you don't know, in many schools in the US right now, students receive 40% or 50% if they do zero work, if they do not complete an assignment. And my school included, and many other schools, are not going to be allowed to give a student a 50% if they do not turn in any work. They will have to receive a zero. Likewise, there will be no completion grades, If you just attempt an assignment, that doesn't mean you get a 55%. Like, if you get a 1 out of 10, you earned a 10% on that assignment, and that's okay. Sometimes failing happens, and we don't need to just inflate the grades just for fun. Grades will reflect students' actual performance and understanding of the content - The third one I'm very excited for as well. Teacher evaluations will take place once a year and teachers will be observed by another current teacher from a different school. Teachers would volunteer to be evaluators. They would get a sub for the day, no questions asked, and then they would evaluate objectively. That way the person evaluating you does not know you and does not have any personal bias towards you. Hopefully. - The fourth one, I think this should be common sense, but I hear that it happens all the time at some schools. Never at mine. But teachers shouldn't be expected to work for free. I hear elementary teachers are doing these before and after work things that they aren't getting paid for, like lunch duty or recess duty or pickup duty, whatever it is. The school needs those things covered. People can volunteer for it, and then they have to get paid for it. They can't force you to cover other people's classes for free. They have to pay you extra if they're gonna take away your lunch or your prep or whatever time that is supposed to be yours and then force you to do something without getting paid. There will be no more voluntelling. Hire this woman. The most important thing we need to do is hold students back and force them to learn the work. No more dumbing down out standards

Over the last decade I’ve helped several hundred families fight to get better support for their children. Right now the special education needs system is not working for too many children, too many parents and too many schools. The Government has tried to fix things but I fear that they have left parents with more questions than answers. Their changes will leave young people to the lottery of the system and place too much burden on teachers. We need to focus on real support for those who need it and start asking why the number of children with special education needs has increased so much in recent years.

This teacher was in her 28th year of teaching. One day she took a Monster drink away from a female student because they are not allowed to have those in class. That same female student later on accused the teacher of inappropriately touching her. The teacher was put on administrative leave because of that Title 6 complaint. The female student’s mother, who works in the central office, dropped the complaint. Fortunately, there are cameras in the classroom. The day of the supposed incident, the teacher wasn’t even working that day because of her mother’s recent death. The cameras found no evidence of inappropriateness. But here is the kicker. Besides removing that student from this teacher’s classroom, nothing happened to her. No suspension, no expulsion, no punishment, no consequences whatsoever. Nothing was done and that is what the problem is in this day and age. No consequences for children. That student should have received a suspension at the very least. I would even go so far to say she should have been expelled from that school. Even with the truth coming out, sometimes the damage is already done. What would you have done if you were this teacher? Can’t sue the child, sue the parents maybe? What are her options?

This teacher says if you ever wonder why people are leaving the teaching profession in droves, this is one of the main reasons. She has students that she has written an incident report on every single day. She has contacted the principal and the support staff and the help that was given to her was to email the parents of the students. Basically, no help or support at all. We have many epidemics in our country but this is one of the biggest that doesn’t get enough attention. We all know our school system is a failure but even more than we know. Students these days have zero consequences. They are passed with straight F’s. They are allowed to be a continuing distraction and disruption in the classrooms and nothing is done about it. We need to start over. 💯 Why do we allow this this as a school? As a district? As a city? As a state? As a country? It didn’t use to be like this? This is why other countries surpass us in education, there is no discipline in our schools. Would you want to be a teacher in this day and age at a public school?

Britney Spears is our longest resident here at Happy Doggo after I rescued her 2.5 years ago. Today she was getting some big news which is remarkable considering her back story… 🔓 She was dumped in the jungle with her puppies. She was incredibly vicious. We think she could have been used for fighting 🦷 She bit 2 other volunteers 🏡 The only place she could stay was with me. She caused mayhem attacking snoop, Jumbo and a friend. 📅 For the first year I was pretty much the only one who could handle her. 🌴 She came to the land and had many fights with other dogs. She was learning but she kept letting herself down 🛵 I developed a system of running her which she loves. Its when she would come alive and feel free 🧍‍♂️ She expanded her circle of humans slowly and now is friends with about 20 people. She also has some dog friends. ✅ It’s been 6 months since Britney had any sort of fight or incident. She is very loving now. We are still careful but she has calmed down So after 2.5 years I promised Britney 2025 is the year she would get her own forever home. She will do great but it will need to be a very specialized home and we’ll have to do it slowly and carefully. I wouldn’t even attempt it if I didn’t think it was right but it is. Britney has finally gotten to a place where she needs to be. The land is great for her but a home is always even better. This won’t happen overnight but it will in 2025. I’ve promised her. Anybody who has followed from the start knows how big a deal this is. Also how cool is Britney’s new camera attachment. Best present ever she said 🎁

This 1st grade school teacher from Washington was arrested after her husband turned her in. She told him that she had a relationship with a 16 year old boy in school, so he called the law. Good for him. There are so many predators posing as teachers anymore. There has to be a way the D of E can put an end to this crap!

We are aware of an incident inside a school in Ontario’s Halton region where a student was labelled a “terrorist” for wearing the keffiyah scarf. It is utterly appalling and completely unacceptable for this kind of anti-Palestinian racism to exist in our schools, let alone to children. Teachers and administrators are supposed to protect students from this kind of racism, not enable or produce it. We salute the courage of this young man in standing up against racism. Let’s be clear: this teacher has no place in the classroom. We are in touch with those involved, as well as local advocates like @MACCMuslim, to push for change. We will have more updates as the situations evolves.

This 22 year old called the Police on her parents, for them not letting her into THEIR home unless they were allowed to check her bag, after she came back home from a trip to New York. Cops immediately sided with the parents since it's their home, she doesn't pay rent, etc... She also wanted them to get the keys to her car, which the parents own and it's in their name. What do you all think? Is there a certain age living at home where parents should not be allowed to be in your business, if you live there free? Or move out, get your own stuff, otherwise deal with it?

This was at La Jolla Cove in La Jolla California. These people are swimming at the Cove but there is a good amount of Sea lions there. 😳 You can see one of the Sea lions almost run over a kid as it is trying to get back in the water and you can hear a voice over the loudspeaker telling people to please keep their distance from all the Sea lions. People argued about this saying that little beach was always meant for kids to swim at and has been that way for 40 years. But many others said that it has obviously changed and now we have Sea lions there and they should leave those Sea lions in peace and go find another beach. To me, the ocean, that is their home. There are plenty of other beaches to use. The people should be the ones to move, not the Sea lions. 💯 What is your opinion? Should they just keep it the way it is, let people around the Sea lions or should they close this small beach cove to the public in order to allow the Sea lions to be in peace?
