Something just launched that makes VS Code feel ancient. And im all in for it: Cline Desktop app, an open-source app for open-weight models (and you know how much i love open source) brings its coding agent into a standalone Cline Desktop app for Mac + Windows. Just open...

Cline Desktop launches today! The Cline team gave us early access, so we’ve had some time to explore what they’re building. Cline Desktop is an open-source app built for open-weight models, bringing Cline into a dedicated desktop workspace with parallel agent sessions, scheduled tasks, flexible model and provider choice, a built-in Marketplace, and support for importing existing workflows from tools like Claude Code and Codex. It’s a meaningful step toward making open-weight models more practical for everyday agentic workflows!

Cline Desktop just launched. An open-source workspace for open-weight models 🤯 > Import tasks from other coding agents > Run agents in parallel > Schedule tasks to run on their own Free models built in: DeepSeek V4 Flash, GLM 5.3 Flash, Laguna S 2.1. I had early access and I can assure you it feels incredible. Pick your model and provider, and run it. 100% open source.

Your PC can now run an entire AI studio for free. Locally Uncensored puts chat, image generation, video generation, and a coding agent in one desktop app for Windows and Linux. - Chat with local models and your own documents - Generate images and videos on your GPU - Write code and review changes before applying them - Run agents with tools and MCP connections Install it, pick a model, and start. It shows which models fit your hardware before you download. No Docker. No terminal. No cloud required for the local workflows. 100% Free. Open Source.

Someone just built a desktop app that that generates 3D models from images and runs 100% locally. It's called Modly. It runs entirely on your GPU, no cloud, no API bills. Just drop an image and get a 3D mesh. 100% Open Source.

Open weight models are now available in Kiro. Three open weight models are available in the IDE and CLI, so you don’t have to default to the largest model for every task. Choose the right model based on speed, cost, or long-running agentic workflows. What model would you like to see supported next? #Kiro #BuildwithKiro #AICoding

Fixing plastic AI generated skin is a $100k/month problem. Apps like Enhancor AI use open-source models and ComfyUI workflows as a backend. How do I know this? I built a workflow that clones their core feature and I'm dropping it below for FREE. Same results, no subscriptions. Use it yourself OR build your own app around it. Why pay for open-source tools? 🧵

We are launching Open Dots, run the same capabilities in 1/10th of the cost OpenAI shipped Dot yesterday for Pro users. Ours is open source, runs on your Mac and cheaper Here's how it works: - each dot has its own browser that stays logged in securely - it can use and setup triggers on your Gmail, Calendar and 1,500 other apps - you can call it and give it things to do while you talk - dots can coordinate and schedule reminders built with Composio OpenRouter free and open source:

Enjoyed the discussion on AI, policy, and the next “Golden Age,” Director Michael Kratsios. Thank you for joining Y Combinator AI Startup School - and thanks even more for reinforcing the Administration’s commitment to a competitive AI ecosystem, including open-weight and open-source models.

Buzz by Jack Dorsey just killed Slack. 100% free and open-source Slack alternative powered by AI agents. Bring your own agents; free desktop app included. I think we're about to see a LOT more open-source projects like this start to launch. Ultimately, the best asset a business can have in the AI era is data, and open-source projects give companies complete oversight over their own internal data. Genius launch →

Okay... this is actually insane. OpenCodex feels like the open-source breakthrough I've been waiting for. The best part : You can plug multiple providers into the same OpenAI Codex harness and switch between models depending on the task. Running low on tokens? No problem. Use another provider. OpenRouter free model today? Plug it in. This completely changes how I think about AI coding workflows. And yes... it even works on mobile. OpenCodex might be one of the most useful open-source AI projects I've seen this year. OpenAI built an incredible harness. The open-source community just made it universal.

Big win for open-source LLMs! DeepSeek V4 Pro holds the top open-weights score on SWE-bench Verified, in the GPT-5.5 range. GLM 5.2 leads the open-weight intelligence index and sits near the closed frontier on long-horizon coding. But this leaderboard number is a weak proxy for real performance. It comes from one task set, run through one harness, served at one precision. The same weights can even score differently across providers, since many hosts quantize activations to fp8 and drift the model off its reference weights. Real performance is determined based on whether a model can read a repo, make coordinated edits across files, run the tests, and recover when one breaks. By that measure, the top open models hold up, but only inside the right harness. The teams that actually put DeepSeek V4 into production pipelines as a frontier substitute got there through the harness they built around the model, not by picking a stronger model. If you want to see this in practice, Cline (64k+ stars) has actually built that harness around open models, tuned so they run at production quality. And it's tuned so that these LLMs can run at production quality, with plan and act modes, checkpoints, and terminal feedback. ClinePass is the new access layer on top of it. It runs a curated set of those models inside Cline, narrowed to the ones tested for coding-agent use, with 2 to 5x the standard rate limits and no separate provider accounts, keys, or billing to track. The video below shows the setup, and I worked with the team to put this together. It runs alongside custom keys and local models as well, not in place of them.

What if aircraft were built like open-source software? Project Caribou is an ambitious open-source effort to build a 200 kg-class heavy-lift hexacopter that anyone can study, improve, and contribute to. The long-term goal is to accelerate the development of larger open-source aircraft and eVTOL platforms. The project targets a ~200 kg maximum takeoff weight with an ~100 kg payload, uses an 18S power architecture, and is built around an ArduPilot-based flight stack. The repository includes CAD models, PCB designs, documentation, and engineering workflows that are evolving in the open. If you are interested in drones, aerospace, robotics, or embedded systems, this is one of the most exciting open-source engineering projects to follow.
