And its probably her own butt!!!! One of my cats has the habit of smelling the exact place where another cat's a*sh*le was 1s before, and then doing this face, and I get like "well, her butt was there so OBVIOUSLY it will stink!!!!"

Snowball would go freaking NUTS whenever my dad came home with a shirt that smelled like cow shit after working on a tractor or whatever. Genuinely the most unhinged I ever saw her get.

when they open their mouths its called the Flehman response and its basically them opening their mouth so the smell reaches their receptors at the roof of their mouth. basically Monkey super-smelled whatever that was on the blanket
