Behind the ball is how you get depth AND length out front. (Not one or the other) Here’s what it actually gives you: 1. You swing more connected and deeper. 2. The barrel enters earlier and stays in longer. You get both. 3. Depth behind what buys you length out front. Most guys are picking one or the other. 4. You sling the barrel through. You’re not shoving it or yanking it into the zone. 5. You actually use the ground. Behind the ball you turn. If you’re not using the ground, you’re probably sliding and pulling everything towards the ball. 6. Your bat speed becomes usable. Pushed and pulled bat speed still reads fast vs one pitch one speed. Only one of them shows up on the barrel, in the zone, on time vs pitching. — Cue for your next round: let the ball get deeper than usual, and turn behind a wall. You can scoot close to a net in front of you to get the feeling, too. Then vs moving ball. > Save this for when you need it > Send this to a hitter who needs it right now (And make sure you’re following)

This umpire gave this kid and his team two warnings for throwing the bat at the catcher. He told them if it happened again they were going to get ejected from the game. Well….it happened again. The batter hit the ball back to the pitcher and the pitcher overthrew first base. But, the umpire called a dead ball and called the batter out and ejected him from the game. The coach came out to argue and said the batter didn’t throw the bat, that it was a regular follow through on the back swing. He told the umpire they had it on film. The umpire said he had it on film too. Then the third base coach came down to argue and the umpire told the coach he was wrong and that he had it on video. You can hear the parents screaming at him. Some people said that was a terrible call and he let go legally on the follow through. You can also hear them tell the umpire that he had it out for that kid. 🤯 But a lot of people sided with the ump and said he handled it well and with that many warnings that it was a fantastic call. 💯 The umpire gave the same kid two prior warnings. Even if it wasn’t intentional, there has to be consequences after a third time. He could seriously injure the catcher. This will help the batter in the future hopefully. What do you think? Was this the right or wrong call?

Most underrated aspect of hitting..? 👀 BAT-TO-BALL SKILLS. Being able to control the barrel and square up the center of the baseball is a skill that most people overlook. The game has gotten so focused on the long ball that this stat has gone way down across baseball in general. Just like creating a good bat path that keeps us in the hitting zone for a long time, squaring up the baseball is just as important. It gives us more room for error if we miss high or low as the ball starts to move. So when you’re in the cage working off the tee, make sure your focus is on squaring up the center of the ball every single time. #baseball #sweetspot #skills #baseballhitting #batting #mlb #baseballfan

Introducing the “Get” action in basketball to lacrosse! The “Get” is a 2man action where a player passes the ball to another player and sprints to go “Get” it back on a handoff. This action has similar concepts and reads to pick and roll, but the picker is actually the ball handler! In lacrosse, we have been experimenting with Gets because it creates so many interesting situations and reads for the players. The way we teach it in small sided games is to have one offensive player declare “I’m shut” and the defense has to face-guard him. From there we pick for the shut off player trying to spring them free for the Get. The ball handler has to engage and control their defender, anticipating the shut player trying to get open. The shut player can backdoor if being overplayed towards the get (rejecting the get), receive a flip, or continue curling around the ball getting open for a late pass. The ball handler can feed the reject, flip the ball, or fake the flip to attack the goal or make a late pass to the shut payer curling to the goal. I’ve seen examples of this run in men’s and women’s DI lacrosse at Ohio State and Northwestern, respectively and I’ve run this myself when I was coaching HS girls lacrosse. You will also see on this reel a sick application for Gets vs. a common big-little invert coverage where the short stick doesn’t go behind with his man and plays “Safety” in front of the net. Gets are fun for the players, are incredible for teaching your players 2man game on and off ball, dealing with double teams, and creativity with passing, and can be used to score goals. Austin Rivers has some great advice for young hoopers and praise for CP3! Steph Curry approves. "If someone stole one of his passes or ripped him, he was like a bat out of hell. He was offended. The way he would run to get the ball back, I've never seen anything like that. He was angry. He would be a badger and somehow go get the ball back. Most people, even like myself, would turn it over and hang my head, throw up my hands, deflect and make it like it's someone else's fault. He would do the complete opposite. That's the key for life and not just sports. It's OK to be hard on yourself, it's OK to reflect, after, and learn from your mistakes. But in the moment, you gotta keep going and trusting yourself. You gotta keep playing with that same type of infiltered confidence. That unwavering confidence. It's the key. Being the next-play player, bro. The best ones are like that. The Jalen Brunson's. You don't have that big comeback in New York if he was hanging his head the whole time."

A couple sound bites that stood out to me from Jack Gohlke after Oakland beat Kentucky last night… 1. He puts his phone away 2 hours before the game and doesn’t check it for a while after the game either. This should be a non-negotiable for ALL athletes and something they all should implement into their pre-game and post-game routines. Nothing leads to more mental fatigue, and zaps energy and being in the moment as much as the phone. 2. True belief in yourself and your team is a POWERFUL thing. When you know deep down that you don’t just belong on the same court/field as others, but that you are the best player on it, magic happens.

This 15U coach goes crazy over a call that ended up tying the game with 2 outs. Another day, another baseball game and another coach losing his mind. 🤦‍♂️ It’s the bottom of the last inning, there’s two outs and runners on first and second base. The pitcher throws a wild pitch. The ball skips away and bounces off a bat the umpire said. If it hit an on deck bat near the dugout, it is a dead ball and the runners advance. You can’t see the play and the coach argues that it hit the dugout pole and not a bat. (Guess he had a better angle from the third base dugout).😳 The umpires meet and at first they tell the runners to go back to where they were. But they continue talking and then say the runners advance. 🤯 The coach was ejected. 💯 The game ended in a tie when a play at the plate on another wild pitch but the runner being called out at home. This was the beginning of a tournament and you can hear one of the parents tell the coach to calm down as they have the rest of the tournament ahead. Not sure what gets into these coaches but no amount of arguing is changing a call. Let it go and just let the young men play. Do you think something needs to be done about these coaches and the way they are acting and the words spewing out of their mouths? Doesn’t it seem like it is a daily occurrence now?

This umpire called a ball that the defensive team thought was a strike. The coach called a timeout after the walk and gathered his infield on the mound. On the next pitch, the catcher slid to the right out of the way of the ball making no attempt to catch it and let it drill the umpire right in the mask. Umpires are fallible human beings. Bad call? Maybe it was. But intentionally letting the ball hit him is poor sportsmanship, dangerous and has no place in the game. The coach, pitcher and catcher should all be ejected from the game. Heck, I might just call the game if I was the umpire and if that is what you are teaching your players, maybe that coach should never be allowed to coach again. What would you do if you were the umpire? How about if it was your child pitching or catching? And what are you saying to the coach if he was the coach of your team?

LAWSUIT: Woman hit by a bat flung into the crowd is suing the New York Yankees for $10 million. Stephanie Duluc, 37, was sitting in her company's seats, 4 rows behind home plate. Cleveland Guardians player Jose Ramirez swung at a ball, and his bat flew out of his hands into the crowd and hit Duluc in the head. Duluc, who is the chief of staff at the Bronx-based SOMOS Community Care, suffered a traumatic brain injury from the blow, according to the lawsuit. The bat struck Duluc with “such force that it knocked her from her seat and violently threw her to the ground, causing her to sustain severe and permanent injuries.” Attorney Jon L. Norinsberg, the same attorney as the JP Morgan “s*x slave” case, alleges the protective netting did nothing to stop the bat and that the protective netting is significantly lower than adjacent stadiums. “It is the one location where the law has long required a stadium operator to provide adequate protective screening.”

The shot of the day came against Varun. The first ball wasn’t timed perfectly. But on the very next ball, Rohit played a controlled check drive straight down the ground for a massive six. In the commentary box, everyone including me was stunned by that brilliant shot. Very few players can execute something like that. It takes exceptional skill and control.

Developers then turned it into a feature for navigating tight spaces. This was later picked up by other games too, for example Turrican or Sonic the Hedgehog. The game's creator, Gunpei Yokoi, was heavily influenced by Ridley Scott's 1979 sci-fi horror classic, giving the game its eerie atmosphere, isolated exploration on a hostile alien planet, and even naming the dragon-like boss Ridley after the film's director.
