32 years being a baseball fan and I still can’t understand 100% the balk, at this point I don’t care anymore to understand it.

The rulebook clearly states that a pitcher cannot pickoff to an unoccupied base UNLESS THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A PLAY. This was a pickoff to third and is 100% legal. Great ruling by the third base umpire.

That is legal. Not a balk. The pitcher is making a play on a runner. If a runner is attempting to advance to a base, the pitcher is allowed to throw there from the rubber — because it’s considered a play on an advancing runner.

Not a balk, legal move to an unoccupied base is allowed if the runner is in motion. Weird rule

People calling this a balk are crazy. Yes 3rd base is unoccupied but the runner is CLEARLY attempting to steal 3rd. Pitcher has the right to throw him out. Learn the rules

Lefties can jump turn to 3rd. Legal move. Runner was going to 3rd, so pitcher can throw it to 3rd. No Balk.
