The first Gaelic football video game in over 20 years is hitting the shelves on Thursday - after being created by a Belfast company. ‘Gaelic Football Laochra’ by Buck Eejit Games, will be the first Irish-made video game to offer players a Gaelic Football experience, and the first to feature Gaelic games since an Australian company released a series of poorly received football and hurling titles in the mid-2000s. The game will be released for PC, XBOX and PlayStation, and it will allow players to choose any of Ireland’s county football teams, along with London and New York.

Brad Sam's, who specialises in Microsoft coverage, believes the timing of #Xbox substantially raising prices just before #PlayStation's annual Days of Play sale, was a very poor "self inflicted wound" and "dagger" from Sony. He believes Xbox didn't believe Sony would discount hardware, but that they should have waited till after the annual sale, just in case. Also that PlayStation was especially savvy after reports of them having stockpiled #PS5's ahead of tarriff increases and the Switch 2 launch. To me it's just another example of Xbox missing the mark on brand optics and strategy, and PlayStation once again being cut throat and steps ahead of their competition. There is a reason the gap is as wide as it is, and has been since the tail end of the 360 or more so the Xbox One. Even now, between the aggressive price discrepancies, PlayStation advertising tentpole Xbox games running better on their own hardware etc, they are digging the nail deeper and deeper.

In light of Jason Schreier's comments regarding Sony being unhappy with Naughty Dog, this made me think back to my convo with Benson Russell (Designer on TLOU & Uncharted 1-4) It's more than likely that Naughty Dog struggled to create the "it factor" for Intergalactic and the internal crunch was a way to try and find it but also...... This is their most expensive project by a wide margin, and is crazy ambitious but Naughty Dog no longer has a flat structure and has a lot of bureaucracy there now due to the studio ballooning in size and is now plagued by the same issues that studios like Bethesda have. If this game doesn't knock it out of the park, I bet there will be layoffs. Naughty Dog is becoming an insanely expensive studio for Sony to run due to salary costs in L.A.

When Sony first announced that they were going to make a game console, I remember thinking, “Is that really possible?” At the time, Nintendo and Sega had already dominated the market for two generations, and NEC was also building a solid presence of its own. My biggest doubt was about first-party games. Even if they could build the hardware, it was hard to imagine a console succeeding without strong first-party titles. That’s why I always felt NEC was a step behind Sega and Nintendo. Now it’s already been over 30 years since the PlayStation launched—32 years this year—and I never would’ve imagined back then that it would rise to form a two-giant system alongside Nintendo. Looking back, there’s no doubt that Ken Kutaragi was an incredible figure for making PlayStation a reality. A lot of us have great memories with PlayStation, don’t we?
