Soon we won't need architecture students to spend seven years deeply considering ethics, site, theory, context, poetics, material etc etc. We will just have an AI app.

Architecture is my passion. And clearly it's also @TestFitInc's passion too!

‘Every buildable outcome’ but they’re all shit

I’ve had a student who used Chat GPT to analyse his coursework and produce a conclusion. He could have done a better job without AI which didn’t consider ethics, environment or equity at all

I’m not going to lie. A lot of plans that hit planning departments look just like that. Architects need to pick their game up if they aren’t going to be replaced by AI like the rest of us.

AI isn’t going to replace architects, it’s going to replace boring, bad, and non-passionate architects. Nothing can replace heart, soul, and love.

Everyone claims this stuff is Ai. It’s not, it’s parametrics, running variables at speed, with fast graphics cards. Visually impressive, yes. US love codified Regs where parameters rule. EU UK Regs are performance-led. It’s great for developers to run GDVs. Delightless mostly.

Disagree. There's a difference between architecture and engineering, and there are many examples of engineer led projects (without architects), yielding poor outcomes.

Architecture isn’t simply optimizing site use. It’s also the way people feel when they interact with a building. This is a useful tool, but it’s just a tool in a big toolbox. I vote more poetics because that’s what speaks to the human spirit.

UGH. Problem is, have the schools been teaching 7yrs of ethics, site, history, theory, context, poetics, material, tectonics, etc? Simple answer > no. To many have focused on pure (digital) form making at the expense of everything else. Much has fallen on firms to help develop.
