haha the Runway real-time characters is great. i just spent 2 minutes pitching a ghibli version of myself a bladeless blender startup it's only a 2 min demo, but the questions and tone are pretty solid. one question even threw me off a bit (the cleaning). asking which round was unnecessary. it got a little weird at the end right before it cut off, which is due to a 2 min limit when testing on site(which seems unnecessary since they're charging me for the api - why not let me talk longer?) at current pricing, this would be roughly ~$6 for a 30 min call or $12 an hour. this doesn't include the cost of running an extraction prompt in the background to store this data, but llm tokens are so cheap. very expensive compared to mean vc (free, since it's in gpt marketplace) or even a self-hosted chat agent, but it's way cheaper than an associate. while it has downsides like not being a real person, there's also benefits like having consistent and unbiased information gathering, being available 24/7, being able to talk to founders in parallel, and consistent note taking. and it will likely get cheaper (sorry my audio volume is low, i'm testing while everyone else in the house is asleep)

We need to have the uncomfortable conversation about violent crime in Victoria and in Australia at large. Last night, two boys, 12 and 15, were murdered with machetes in Melbourne’s west. That headline alone should shock you. But it’s just the latest in a long line: a father stabbed 11 times in the face during a home invasion, a man nearly losing his hand over a phone, a doctor murdered in his own home. This isn’t just “bad luck” or “isolated incidents.” This is the product of failed policy, soft bail laws, and a culture that emboldens violent youth because they know there are no consequences. I know this firsthand. I was the victim of a home invasion. My car was stolen. My equipment—my livelihood—was taken. I haven’t felt safe in my own home since. And every time I speak up, I’m dismissed as a cooker or a right-wing nutjob. But I speak up because I care about my community, my state, and my country. It shouldn’t take you watching a loved one lose a limb or worse, their life for you to realise that silence and apathy come at the cost of all our safety. When she found this green sea turtle, the unbelievable part was that it was already 2:40 PM… which meant the turtle had been lying on its back on the beach for a very long time. Sea turtles usually come ashore to nest at night or just before dawn, so this poor turtle had likely been stuck in that position for hours! She knew it needed help, so she ran about half a mile until she found a family who could assist her (adult sea turtles can weigh hundreds of pounds, and she couldn’t flip it over by herself). Together, we worked to safely turn it back onto its right side. Then, we watched as it quickly made its way back into the ocean 🐢🌅

“I have the right to learn.” Children in Gaza are so bright, curious, wise beyond their years. But they have been stifled, learning opportunities taken from them, their educational system destroyed. The children of Gaza represent the future, and no matter how hard the occupation tries to eliminate the future of Palestine, they will not succeed as long as we have fierce, smart, strong, resilient kids who not only want to carry on, but flourish. The education tent at the Refaat Alareer Camp helps foster the spark in these children, giving them the opportunity, time, and skills to succeed in perusing knowledge. We have a teacher for the lower grades, as well as a high school educator, an art teacher that visits the camp, and a music instructor. We allow kids to be kids, to be excited about learning, to give them an escape from the harsh realities around them so they can just be like “normal” children around the world who are in school. Of course nothing is normal about the situation in Gaza. These children are EXTRAORDINARY, pursuing their studies while bombs are dropped around them. Show them your support.
