I'm a bulgarian journalist and I wrote several pretty widely read articles on the grant-based media here. Yoncheva is mostly right, but it should be taken with a grain of salt, since her party is run by an oligarch who has a personal vendetta against these. Soros is more of a middle man here. He has huge influence one of the editors of the sort of pro-european media. He also indirectly...directs where US money goes. There's a decently large media empire that gets funded by money from a foundation called "USA for Bulgaria". It is in essence the USAID money since 2008, which made a profit (somehow) of 400 million USD that was then enshrined in a foundation that funds media and NGOs. They claim they have nothing to do with the US, but thats absurd. Further, the Norway, Lichtenstein and Iceland foundation gives about 270 million for 4-5 years to the same causes. Soros rarely offers direct grants, he mostly finds/funnels other grants. A major issue with this is that often these grants will be basically enough to fund the entire media, while they project the image of being fully independent. Lots of private media gets a lot of (rightful) accusations of being biased, but the NGO grant-based media don't and they're even often the accusers. They are also HEAVILY biased in favor of progressive parties. And all of this would also be largely acceptable, but in the past years they've started trying to form factchecking and censorship regimes. The grant-based media started a factchecking platform, which was certified by...themselves. In it they hired fact checkers who worked only for ONE single editor, the one of their own media. Then they were approved to be the official fact checker for facebook - and about 80% of our country is in facebook. So yeh...there's a lot of shady stuff here. But once again, Yoncheva should be taken with a grain of salt. So should I, if I have to be honest, but the stuff I say is backed by sources and facts.

Same in Romania, Ireland, most European countries @ others around the world. It is unbelievable that this is legal and allowed. It’s like a cancer.. it will be very difficult to cure. Eg in Ireland there are 35,000 NGOs! For 5 milion ppl pushing nothing but extreme left agendas. Also, all NGOs are funded with our tax money. It really is beyond belief. 😒

Soros is one of the biggest philanthropists in the world. And his foundation helps a lot of people. It is unclear why you are developing conspiracy theories and trying to scare people with Soros in the style of Putin.
