Sorry - I'm going to be really boring about this. Every time the BBC uncritically repeats the Israeli lie that Hamas uses civilians as human shields I'm going to post the section in our AJ I-Unit film "Gaza" that debunks this, in detail. It is simply a lie. /1

The evidence isn’t complicated – yet the human shields lie is used again and again to justify the scale of civilian casualties. Of course you report Israeli claims – but you have to provide the context that they have regularly proved to be untrue in the past. /2

Human shielding does not require forcing civilians to be shields, the tunnel network under civilian Gaza, meant only for Hamas fighters, is human shielding per int'l law. Evidence is overwhelming, as documented in this 87 page report. Sorry to be boring.
