The cold is British. They just never told you. ❄️🇬🇧 Every air conditioner, every fridge, every freezer on earth, the cold inside all of it was first made by a Scotsman. In 1756. ❄️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 His name was William Cullen, a doctor in Edinburgh. In a warm room, with no ice and no winter, he drew the air from a glass of ether until it boiled cold and drank the heat from the water around it, until the water froze. No one had ever done it before. Then he wrote it down and walked away. No machine, no patent, no fortune. Just the proof, on a bench. It sat there the better part of a century. A British bench built the first machine that worked, and a Scot carried it across the world to Australia, where it froze meat and cooled beer. But cold was only half the story. ❄️📖 To master the air itself took another Scot. When the Houses of Parliament burned down in 1834, David Boswell Reid made the new building breathe, its gothic spires its lungs. At St George's Hall in Liverpool in 1851 he built what is often called the first air-conditioned building on earth. It should have made him. He died forgotten in America instead. 40 years on, Willis Carrier built the machine and earned his name as the father of modern air conditioning. He earned every bit of it. SUMMER LOVIN’ BACK TO THE WINTER BLUES ❄️ Massive cold air transport is about to begin, with temperatures rapidly dropping across the Hudson Valley and Poconos. There will still be enough leftover moisture to flip rain showers to snow showers, with even a few brief bursts of heavy snow possible into the evening that could create some slushy coatings. This will not lead to meaningful accumulation or major travel issues on the roads because March sunangle is very strong and boundary layer (surface temps) will stay very warm. If this event came in at night this would have been a totally different type of situation but it's not. The overall pattern turns cool, not arctic, with temperatures rebounding back into the 40s and 50s over the next few days. The next shot at a more established cold pattern arrives next week. For now, I still do not see any major storms or classic March snowstorm threats. PIX11 News

A fast-moving wave of low pressure will ride along a sharp thermal gradient separating Arctic air from milder air to the south. Because this system is quick—really quick—snowfall totals will be limited, but meaningful. Here are the two scenarios: 1️⃣ Track South — “The Dive Too Far” A farther-south wave keeps the frontal boundary suppressed, limiting snow northward into MD/PA. Clouds dominate the second half of the weekend. There is likely a northern fringe that brushes central NJ with light showers or a mix — but overall, no meaningful impacts expected. Pacific air runs the show going into next week. I will provide my thoughts on the rest of winter via a VIDEO/full story next week.

Six arrivals are visible on the videos, so the missile was equipped with guided warheads for breaking through air defense systems. The Ukrainian Air Force did not confirm the strike specifically by "Rubezh", but they did confirm the arrival of an intercontinental ballistic missile. Snow flurry fever for Saturday night! It’s true, there’s a chance of Gulf Effect Flurries Saturday night. While not likely, it’s about as good a shot as we get in the Tampa Bay Area. This animation shows how Gulf Effect works. You need a long, cold fetch over “warm” water. We have that, although more NW wind rather than NNW would be better. You need at least a 25° difference between the Gulf temp and the cloud level. We have 40°+! And you also need decently moist air… And here’s the issue. We have enough moisture in the clouds but very dry air above it. So if this is going to happen, the instability due to the huge temp difference has to overcome the dry cap above. Given that cloud temps will be all-time record #cold, there’s a small chance of #snow ❄️ flakes. Small but mighty 🙂

It is not only many of the 232 passengers and 12 crew members on board that may have perished, but also those living in the residential area called Meghani Nagar. The authorities must investigate why the Air India plane crashed so soon after taking off. Air India has a poor reputation and track record on safety. If there has been negligence on the part of Air India tough action should be taken to make sure this never happens again.

Boston hit 23.2 inches of snow during #Fern ❄️ I’m live today along the frozen Charles River, where you can see and feel the impact of this storm in real time. The snow may be over, but the story is far from over. We’re heading into a stretch of persistent, bitter cold with temperatures staying below freezing for the foreseeable future, keeping roads icy, sidewalks slick, and snowpack locked in.
