In the XFL: Instead of an onside kick, the trailing team can maintain possession with a 4th-and-15 play from its own 25-yard line. It just worked for the St. Louis BattleHawks. This was brought to NFL owners in the past but didn't get enough votes.

While many around the league don’t expect any linebackers to be drafted tonight, if there is one, it certainly could be #TexasAM’s Edgerrin Cooper. Cooper is the most complete LB in the 2024 draft class. He’s shown to be: 1️⃣an elite athlete 2️⃣a consistent and impactful run defender 3️⃣a capable and efficient blitzer, and 4️⃣able to use his size and bend to disrupt in pass protection As a run defender, he finished with an 87.6 PFF grade, highest among any expected draft linebackers in this year’s draft class. That includes 15 TFLs or no gain plays. As you can see (🎥), his downhill force plus balance and control allows him to consistently win in the run game As a pass rusher, he had 7 sacks on the year, 4 of which came from playing on the line of scrimmage. When lined up on the line of scrimmage, he generated a pressure on over 30% of his pass rush snaps. Elite ‼️ And in coverage, he finished with a top-10 coverage grade int eh country last season (per PFF College) among LBs lined up in the box. He’s able to use his length and bend, along with developed vision and timing to disrupt plays from the box. Couple all of that with a 4.51 forty time and would-be impressive athletic testing numbers if he was 100% for the draft process (why he wasn’t able to officially go every day in practice at East-West Shrine Bowl), and it’s hard to ignore his NFL starting potential. There’s a real chance he goes in late round one, but if he’s there on Day 2, he may not only be one of, if not the, first linebacker drafted, but may be one of the first players taken on Day 2 of the draft. #ShrineBowlWhosNext

HOCKEY FANS. After a 5-point weekend, the nation's leading scorer (41 points) is now the Freshman, Ethan Wyttenbach from Roslyn, Long Island. The #Flames 5th round pick in 2025 played in the USHL last season and is lighting up the NCAA. He turns 19 next week, and to me was without a doubt the steal of last year's draft. I spoke with Ethan last week, and that interview will be out later today on the USHL channels.

Dan Orlovsky on MVP Race: “It’s hard for me to not vote for Josh Allen… [Lamar] has something to play for this weekend, [Allen] doesn’t.” This might be the worst argument of them all. 1. The Ravens have beaten 7 teams in the playoff picture (not including the Bengals). The Bills have beaten 2. 2. Lamar wouldn’t have anything to play for if Steelers-Bengals was scheduled before Lamar is winning in EVERY stat except rushing TDs and has a 35-10 H2H win… If it’s voter fatigue, just say it.

The other day I woke up with a for sale sign in front of the home I bought in 2015. Today I retained a very established, competent, attorney, and the realtor came and got that shit out of my yard REAL QUICK. They are LEGALLY not allowed to sell my house and they know that. They only put the sign in my yard to try to humiliate, embarrass, and intimidate me. That’s EXACTLY why they came and removed it instead of just leaving it there. You have poked me long enough. 🐻

Snapshot of something Mike Vrabel expressed frustration with this morning: He sees Hunter Henry (bottom of screen) trying to communicate with the official 15 yards away/do the right thing alignment-wise … and still get penalized. “I’ll have to try to get some clarification on that — how we are going to do this going forward,” Vrabel says. Earlier today, in his radio interview, Vrabel shared that he was irked with over-officiating at the line of scrimmage. “If our guys are going to look over; I get that we have to be legal. But for as long as I can remember in this league, the refs are going to try to officiate proactively and work with the players. “If it’s a hold, call a hold. If it’s defensive pass interference, call defensive pass interference. But at the line of scrimmage, if players are going to try to get the formation correct … we’re not going to tell them that they are either on the line of scrimmage or they have them off? They’re just going to sit there and tap their knee? “I don’t know what that is. That’s frustrating that we are that literal as an officiating department — if that is indeed what they are telling them. … “I didn’t know when we were going to start officiating the line of scrimmage and not communicate with our players. Because in the end, the relationship the players have with officials, I think can be really positive and they can explain the mechanics they’re looking for.”

I know every draft room celebrates every pick they make, but Zac Taylor’s exuberant reaction to drafting WR Jermaine Burton shouldn’t be ignored phenomenal landing spot for dynasty leagues and I would target the hell out of him in keeper leagues, as he’ll be drafted much higher in 2025 after the Bengals let Tee Higgins walk (you also get some insane contingent value if something were to happen to Higgins or Chase this year)
