South African agriculture is characterized by farmers who don’t own their own seeds and depend on US owned GMO or hybrid seeds to grow maize, soya and wheat (staples), foreign seeds which can be denied anytime by western sanctions. How is that thriving? The country has not been wheat sufficient since 1989. Meanwhile fruits are seedless, so without seeds, buds and roots to graft, there are no fruits either. South Africans are captives of foreign seed companies and don’t have the capacity to produce their own food without foreign seeds. That is food insecurity and you should be raising a risk report.

Brazil's agricultural exports are $166.5 bil. Fair enough they have almost five times the arable land (and 11 x the revenue), but Aus is comparable and has a revenue of US$88 bilion in agri exports. The reason ZA does so incredibly poorly is that we export to Africa and Europe.
