I was told by a good friend from “up north,” that there are rural places north of the Mason-Dixon line, which make Dixie look like Marin County by comparison. He shared what he calls a very common expression with me: “The further NORTH you go, the more SOUTH it gets.” I didn’t understand that until I spent a week in rural Pennsylvania, and the next year visited a friend who moved to the upper peninsula of Michigan. He’s right. 😳
