The devastating passage of Cyclonic Storm Ditwah over Sri Lanka on satellite imagery. As a result of flooding and landslides from these heavy rains, at least 469 people on the island have lost their lives, with an additional 366+ still missing. This was happening at the same time as Cyclone Senyar was disastrously inundating Indonesia and the greater Malay Peninsula ~1,200 miles to the east.

This is Galveston,Texas on the Seawall where Tropical Storm Arthur is currently impacting the coast down in the Gulf of America. Winds are only at 40-60 mph but those swells have covered parts of the beach and are reaching the Seawall. And Galveston has a real Seawall, standing 17 feet high made out of concrete that stretches for 10 miles. 😳 It looks beautiful down there but from a safe distance. If you know the flooding history of Galveston, you know there is always concern. 💯 I could watch those waves all day. ❤️ Do you have plans to visit the Texas beaches this summer? Have you checked the forecast for severe weather?

This is what Hurricane Erin looked like from the International Space Station on Tuesday. Intense, rainforest thunderstorms have started to erupt along the northern periphery of Tropical Storm Cristina’s circulation as we get closer to sunset this evening. Deeper and colder than the cyclone’s core convection, these rainbands are now dousing western El Salvador and could deliver a very stormy night ahead for the rest of the country, if they continue to burgeon up through the muggy atmosphere and rotate southward. A flood threat for the tropical mountain communities of Honduras also can’t be ruled out right now.
