Southwest passengers have experienced unacceptable disruptions and customer service conditions. I have made clear to their executives that our department will hold Southwest accountable for making things right with their customers and employees.

As travelers look to rebook due to Southwest's cancellations, other airlines should cap fares on these routes to help people who need to get home. I'm encouraged to see several airlines have now committed to this step – all of them should.

There aren’t enough workers in the US to run the system effectively. We desperately need high skilled talent to run the country effectively. We must stop torturing high skilled immigrants in immigration deadlock.

@Chasten Billions of dollars in covid funds, hundreds of millions of dollars in profit. But they choose to enhance their ‘stakeholders’ (stock holders and executives) rather than invest in systems that could cope with situations like these. Corporate greed.

I adore you mayor Pete. I feel like you’re the only Transportation Sect who could give a darn about this mess we’re in. Fine them millions. My family will be driving 14 hours to get home. A mess. High speed rail is the answer!!

Thank you for including the employees in this. They have been subject to abuse they don't deserve.

WE DO NOT NEED GOVERNMENT TO DO THIS THIS IS WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS ARE FOR THIS IS WHAT COMPETITION IS FOR THIS IS WHAT “DYOR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU CHOOSE A GD AIRLINE” IS FOR

Maybe a better way would be to limit selling capacity over holiday periods to 90% of a plane. Leave 10% for standbys, or fill with those wanting to leave earlier. If an airline suffers cancelled flights due to weather use that 10% unsold capacity to catch up.

Perhaps you might suggest that had they used their PPP money to upgrade and integrate their software systems, they would have come on line with the upgrades just in time to prevent this mess?

Thank you Sec Buttigieg. I'd like to see some constraints on airline companies' abililties to pay shareholder dividends and senior exec bonuses and buy back their own shares, by limiting those abilities in line with their regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction metrics.
