A public prosecutor attached to the City Civil and Sessions Court in Bengaluru was caught red-handed by the Karnataka Lokayukta Police while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000 from a complainant on Monday. The accused,has been identified as, Savitha Naveen Patil, 55, serving as Public Prosecutor at CCH-54, Bengaluru, was allegedly demanding a bribe to submit objections in Case registered at the Chennamanakere Achukattu Police Station. The complainant, Manjunath, 40, a resident of Banashankari, approached the Lokayukta alleging that the prosecutor had demanded Rs. 5,000 to carry out the official work. Based on the complaint, Lokayukta Police registered Case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. During the trap operation, the accused was allegedly caught while accepting the Rs. 5,000 bribe amount and was secured by the Lokayukta team and arrested for further investigation.

SAPS Anti-Gang Unit members stopped and searched the vehicle during a targeted roadblock. Police say they found 600 Mandrax tablets, 100 grams of tik and 300 grams of dagga, along with 23 cellphones. The members depicted in the video have since been identified. The matter is being addressed internally, and the members concerned will be subjected to appropriate internal disciplinary processes. The Acting District Commissioner has condemned the conduct depicted in the video and reiterates that members of the South African Police Service are expected to serve the public with professionalism, courtesy and respect as required by the Code of Conduct. The driver noticed that SAPS members had a white power in a small plastic, which they were attempting to plant in his car, the driver was coming from work. When the driver asked them why are they planting drugs in his car, they failed to answer, instead they started making calls and the driver was not arrested. The male SAPS member can be seen playing with a white substance packaged in small plastic bag. It is unclear how many people have been the victims of this SAPS crimes.
