the whole point of a space elevator is to not use rocket thrust to get to orbit

Tell me you don't understand the idea behind space elevators without telling me you don't understand the idea behind space elevators.

that's not how a space elevator works, lol.

Why would it need a rail? Electricity would do all this work, not jets.

This is as well made as it defeats the point of making a space elevator in the first place lol.

Mass Driver, not Space Elevator. Here's an example from Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

Why use rockets to propel the ship into space? Why not use the idea of a sling and propel the ship using a system like a rail gun? Not a rocket scientist, and I don’t know the logistics between the two methods but it would be really cool to see.

not a space elevator

Defeats the purpose if you are burning propellant while on a space elevator. Why bother if you're using up onboard fuel? The entire purpose of a space elevator is to launch objects into orbit without onboard fuel consumption so that the vessels have a full fuel load at orbital or, even better, escape velocity, which opens up the solar system to colonization.

Lot of qualified space elevator experts here say this is not right but I have a degree in space elevation from Starfleet Academy and I can tell you this is bang on. It’s also pretty good from a 3D artist standpoint.

How long did this shot take to render? The motion blur looks insanely clean.

The whole point of a space elevator is that it’s reactionless. It uses solar power to generate electromagnetic fields to raise cargo to orbit.

Why not electro magnetic propulsion? Rockets seem dumb for this.

THE WHOLE POINT OF A SPECE ELEVATOR IS TO SAVE ON POWER AND FUEL! What the hell is the point of those if you're gonna use a rocket anyway??

the whole point of a space elevator is, that you don't ned to burn huge amounts of fuel ... that's just a rocket on rails with no advantage

Rockets are inefficient as they have to lift their fuel. The bulk of the Saturn V fuel load was to lift the fuel, not the payload. So no, a space elevator should not be rocket powered.

Obviously Beanstalks don't use rockets... rubbing two chemicals together to make thrust was brilliant when Tsiolovsky thought of it in 1905, but it's just nostaglia since Orion and NERVA. And Beanstalks will just use electromagnetic motors. We have materials good enough to build a Martian Beanstalk... but those two puny moons would have to go, or they'd collide with it. One piece of the elevator would fall and hit a long stretch of Mars, and the other piece would fall into space ;)

This is more like ski jump to space, or more know as mass-driver. Space elevator need orbital ring going around earth, in needs "the upper floor" of the ring, acting as its"destination". The elevator itself basically like a vertical rail where a train (or elevator) rides on.
