someone pointed out that i ping a google anycast IP in the first clip—sure, yep, fair. but it is still pretty likely that the closest server to me (in seattle) is either here in seattle or close by in CA so point still stands 😊

So because MikroTik uses CAKE, it's one of the few routers I know of that has a latency setting that includes "interplanetary" 🚀🌎🪐

Wow!! I had never considered any of that! How is time keeping affected in those environments? I’m assuming that NTP is probably too coarse. How do you keep things in sync? Are the clocks themselves that are involved different than what is used in typical server and network gear?
