The oil they release mixes with water vapour and dust, scattering light and giving the valleys a blue tinge, especially in warm weather. It’s a popular trekking area, but conditions can change quickly. Sunshine can turn to mist within minutes. We set off in clear weather, pulled on ponchos as rain swept through, and by the time we reboarded the bus and reached the Three Sisters the visibility was hopeless. No chance of a hoped for sunset with a G&T Nevertheless, definitely worth a visit but be respectful of Mother Nature or she may take offence!

Soon after, we received information that nearby neighborhoods had been completely destroyed.
