Ooooh, that is fun. I have a "finger" type thing designed for my robots. Sensors, math, cameras, retraction, mapping space. You could stick some movement on it and use the finger data to create spatial awareness for the maps. Is the hardware open-source?

It is. Pollen robotics shares the parts list, and the design files so you can 3D your own enclosure, etc.. there’s even an after market extension kit for glowing eyes!

I'm gonna come down against giving the robot lasers. Useful to be sure, but I worry about the precedent. You can name your robot sparky OR you can give it a laser, but both feels like asking for trouble.

lol. Now I'm tempted to update Sparky's prompting, and the API tool surface he sees internally, to indicate that he actually has a high-powered, chest-mounted battle laser, and then see if he'll be willing to use it. But that would be mean...

Why not a laser pointer? It could be designed as a hat/cap addon.

Yeah. The robot could also use a laser pointer to play with my dog. That is, if my dog had the hunting and pouncing reflexes of a cat, which he does not. He just sleeps all the time.

Oh oops, LED spotlight is more 🐶 friendly. Maybe switchable tho: LED indoors, safe low-power laser when it’s brighter. Excited to see Reachy pointing at what it needs to point at.
