House Republicans are holding the American economy hostage, threatening a default unless their extreme proposals are met. Tonight, I spoke on the House Floor about the devastating impacts the Default on America Act or a debt default would have on Virginia’s Fourth.

Joe Biden is the only person on earth who can ensure the America does not default on our debt. Biden needs to stop playing roulette with the American economy.

Thank you Courage for America for allowing me the opportunity to talk about the disastrous “Default On America Act.” Veterans benefits shouldn’t be cut to pay for tax cuts for millionaires & billionaires. #RepublicanBudgetSabotage

For months, President Biden refused to negotiate the debt ceiling despite Kevin McCarthy’s repeated calls to come to the table. House Republicans did our job. If we default on our debt it will be because of Joe Biden.

Kevin McCarthy’s announcement of a bogus impeachment inquiry into President Biden is based on two things: McCarthy’s weakness as speaker, and his willingness to do Trump’s bidding. It’s certainly not based on evidence or facts.

MAGA Republicans in Congress would default on our national debt and destroy our economy unless they get their way. It’s more than irresponsible – and it’d hurt working families, the middle class, and our veterans the most.

The only person threatening to default on our debt is President Biden. Record inflation has been brought on by the Democrats’ insane spending. Americans can’t afford rent, gas, or groceries. #BidenFlation.

In 230 years, America has never defaulted on our debt. We pay our bills. Congressional Republicans must do that again now without hostage-taking and act to avoid default.

I’m confident that Congressional leaders and I will reach an agreement on the budget and that America won’t default.

Today at the White House, Speaker McCarthy refused to take default off the table. President Biden said he would. Leader Jeffries said he would. I said I would. But Speaker McCarthy instead gave us a plan to take default hostage.
