UPDATE - Violence serves no purpose. Tonight many 100s of people came out to partake in peaceful protest. They then dispersed having registered their deeply held concern and anger. What we are seeing now is pockets of disorder. Violence serves no purpose. It only damages the very cause and issues and people want to get heard. I know people are angry. I know people want to register their concerns. However, violence only destroys and damages our communities and areas. Thuggery and violence is always wrong. I appeal to all - get home, stay peaceful and stay safe. I have also been speaking with the Chief Constable and those PSNI officers on the ground. They are taking significant footage and information and there will be prosecutions over the next number of days. Get home and stay away from the trouble.

Brothers and sisters of Ireland, 🇮🇪 We gather not in silence, but in strength. We gather not in hate, but in hope. And we gather not to divide, but to demand. For the past number of days, our country has been brought to a standstill. Not by chaos without cause, but by people pushed to the edge. Farmers, workers, drivers, families, ordinary Irish people have taken to the roads, to the streets, to the gates of this nation’s lifelines because the cost of simply living has become too much to bear. They are not there for attention. They are there because they cannot afford not to be. Fuel prices have surged to unsustainable levels, driven by global crises and policies beyond the control of ordinary people. And yet, it is the ordinary people who are expected to carry the burden. They tell us support has been given. They tell us measures are in place. They tell us to be patient. But patience does not fill a tank. Patience does not keep a business alive. Patience does not put food on the table. Across Ireland, roads have been blocked, cities brought to a halt, and supply lines disrupted. Fuel depots, ports, even the country’s only oil refinery have been targeted in protest. Not out of malice but out of desperation. And now we see the response. The government condemns the protests. Sunderland is a proud, vibrant city. That’s what the people here want to be known for. That’s the story of this city! But, on Friday night, violent rioters in targeted Muslim and minority communities. Today, with Sunderland UK deputy leader Kelly Chequer and Susan Dungworth - Northumbria PCC I heard how this has affected them- afraid to go to work or Mosque, losing income and looking over their shoulder. Nobody should feel like this in our safe and friendly region. I’ve taken these concerns direct to the heart of govt and been reassured- Northumbria Police will be backed all the way to bring the extreme right wing criminals, who brought disorder to our streets, to justice.

Buttigieg: We didn't know it, but we've all been trusting our lives to the restraint of whoever the president might be. And now we have a president who is completely unrestrained. And so the only answer to that is a functioning Congress. It turns out we do not have a functioning Congress. The House of Representatives is not representative. One of the most important organs of our democracy is not democratic. They say, "Oh, no. We're not manipulating the map to disempower black people. We're manipulating the map to disempower Democrats who happen to be black people.” So, the time has come to make it impossible to manipulate the map for any reason and just have fair maps.

This is not the only vision for what it looks like to have politics in this country—that is so divorced from the needs and wants of everyday people. And what we are looking to show in New York City is an alternative to what has led so many to become disenchanted with the political process. We want to show that not only can government work, but it must, and that at its core, our responsibility is to working people—to ensure that we’re doing everything to make their lives easier. “Free Palestine” and “Globalize the Intifada” are not peaceful slogans, they are calls for violence. And pretending otherwise is gaslighting the Jewish community. Jews are just 2% of the U.S. population but are targeted in 68% of religion-based hate crimes. People have been murdered while their killers shouted “Free Palestine.” This hatred runs rampant on college campuses, where Jewish students are harassed for supporting Israel, and ends in violence on our streets. This is the new antisemitism. And under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, it’s illegal. We need to call it what it is. And we need to stop it now.

Sad to say that there is no expenditure being made by the State Government of #Odisha for the people of this state and for their development. Time and again this has been brought to the attention of #Odisha Government by Biju Janata Dal that there must be some expenditure for the development of the people of the state, but they seem to be totally neglectful about this. Everyone is suffering. It's not exclusive to any people, it is everyone that is suffering. It's like they're playing on empty vessels, and we all know that empty vessels make a good sound, and that's what they're satisfied by. #BJDWithOdisha
