Most people associate the name Blizzard with Warcraft, StarCraft, or Diablo - and why wouldn't they? All three are massive legends of gaming history. However, the very first game created by Blizzard (then known as Silicon & Synapse) was The Lost Vikings in 1993. It's a mix between classic platforming, action, puzzles, and teamwork with wonderfully quirky Viking charm. The game featureed an innovative co-op mechanic that always reminded me a bit of Lemmings (at its core). Because people genuinely still don't understand how long it takes to develop major features and entire new game modes: Gavin Winter (Senior Systems Designer OW) on Emongg's stream mentioned that there's been a whole separate team dedicated to making the new Stadium mode for "a lot of the time" Gavin has been at Blizzard. For context, Gavin has been at Blizzard for nearly 4 years. He also mentions that gameplay engineers have been working on Stadium "for the past few years". Stadium having been worked on for 3 years lines up with the timeline of Hero Missions being publicly announced to be cancelled in May 16th 2023, with strong rumours that indicate Hero Missions were internally scrapped at least a year before that. Meaning that if developers were reassigned from Hero Missions to Stadium in early 2022; it has now been 3 years almost exactly to the day - lining up with the timeline Gavin alluded to in his comments. People also need to remember it's been nearly a year and a half since the Diablo collaboration when we first got to see some of the early testing of perks/skill trees in gameplay publicly. We just didn't know what project we were publicly testing for until now. It makes sense to reassign developers and convert the work done on PvE into something more in line with the true direction of OW which is PvP game play. Stadium is the result of that, taking the best parts from the old Hero Missions project and transforming it into something else that works better for the current game. All of this to say; development doesn't happen in 2 months. To the dismay of the far too many people that somehow think it does.

Excited to show some surprising inventions on generative multiplayer games we made at Google with Stanford. We call the work MultiGen. I've always been inspired by early studios like id Software with Doom or Blizzard with Warcraft bringing networked video games to the next level. We are at the point in history where we can make strides like them, but for generative games. It's a strange feeling to be in the age of generative video games while still discovering how exactly to train the models and design the tools that make them useful. All of the tools that have been invented for classic game engines need to be redesigned for generative games. For example level and world design is not entirely possible with existing technology. We introduce editable memory to diffusion game engines that allow for design of new levels via a minimap. But we can easily imagine how this can be expanded with different creation tools. The end goal of this research direction is to allow game designers to be able to guide the generation process of their world, at the granularity that they prefer. Editable memory also allows us to add multiplayer to Generative Doom. We were amazed when we saw GameNGen some years ago, and now you can play it live with friends in real-time, on your couch or even online. Shared representations like our editable memory seem like the future for this type of experience. Models are, in some cases, expensive and approximate encoders but great interpolators and extrapolators. Leveraging their strengths lets you have completely new experiences that can be realized now and not in the distant future. This work was started at my previous team and continued in collaboration with Stanford. Congratulations to all for the discoveries.

🚨 GEARS OF WAR E DAY OPINION!...🚨 Everybody keeps asking me Where is Gears of War E Day, where is the Gameplay, Release Date, New Trailer, anything seeing as how we are almost four months in to 2026 and I would say the Answers can be found in the Past to Reveal the Future, if your confused you haven't been paying attention!... 👀💥⚙️ In October 2023 I was the first to report on the sixth mainline Gears of War game an Unnannounced Coalition game was set to release sometime in 2026 and 3 years later it looks to finally be happening! 👀😱⚙️ I also discussed a Gears of War Direct show focusing on a deep dive into the new game after Xbox began yearly dedicated game shows! 🧐🤯⚙️ Then on September 20th 2025 after the release of Gears of War Reloaded I uploade a Youtube video discussing my own personal opinion that if there is no E Day at the January 2026 Developer Direct, then it would likely be the Xbox Games Summer Showcase E Day Direct, which again Playground Games were the focus with Fable & Forza Horizon 6 & if we look at Gears of War E Day it is the only Xbox Games Studio first party title confirmed for a 2026 release with zero gameplay shown, no exact release date window & we are already almost four months into the year there must be a reason for that... 🤔🎮⚙️ This is why I have believed since 2023 that the best way to celebrate Gears of War E Day and also the franchise 20th annviersary is with a dedicated E Day Direct show that potentially based on Xbox announcement last year could be announced as early as April 7th/14th if the Xbox Games Showcase were to be happening on either Sunday June 7th or 14th! 🫡🔥⚙️ It is very frustrating that there is no Gears of War E Day marketing happening right now I wish I had more to cover for content & to help build community engagement & hype but there must be a plan for why it looks like we may just have to wait until the Xbox Games Showcase in June for Gears of War Re-Emergence to finally begin, just a little more patience we are almost back Gears Fam! 🙏🤞⚙️

One of my goals when I decided to expand the concept of the Sweet Baby Inc. detected curator page on Steam was also to help promote good developers that understood and agreed with the message that we gamers, the ones that buy their products, deserve respect and also good games without being lectured on real life political ideologies. The very first one that I RECOMMENDED on my curator page was The Great Rebellion, a game made by the Kvltgames - Wishlist Dverghold on Steam! guys, and these guys are now working on a new project Hyper Rebellion: Blood & Circuits is the name of their next game. Basically it's a horde shooter bin classic isometric top down style that looks straight from the 90s like Fallout 2 and Diablo, but with guns! (which in my opinion make things much better, if you ask me) Kvltgames - Wishlist Dverghold on Steam! is a 100% self-funded indie team, just a bunch gamers doing what they love: making video games, and they got no publisher, no compromises and always guaranteed DEI-free. They are going through a crowdfunding campaign right now for 45 days. Currently they are pushing for €10k as the next partial goal, with a final goal of €45k - all the donated funds will be used for the game development, doesn’t matter how much the campaign raise in the end. Basically it's a horde shooter bin classic isometric top down style that looks straight from the 90s like Fallout 2 and Diablo, but with guns! (which in my opinion make things much better, if you ask me) Kvltgames - Wishlist Dverghold on Steam! is a 100% self-funded indie team, just a bunch gamers doing what they love: making video games, and they got no publisher, no compromises and always guaranteed DEI-free. Been discussion on Blessing Adeoye Jr. of Kinda Funny taking issue with #Xbox going to Jez Corden of Windows Central, for new CEO Asha Sharma's interview. Don't think it's "jealousy" contrary to Xbox fandom musings. He listed numerous far more reputable journalists/outlets for the task, with no mention of Kinda Funny. Instead, think it's a matter of credibility and authenticity. Jez's often referred to as an Xbox and Microsoft "shill" with good reason (reasons later). Bloomberg's Jason Schreier details why #PlayStation parted ways with #Kojima on #Physint, while giving the perspectives of all sides involved. PlayStation perspective: Neither Death Stranding 1 or 2 lived up to PS's sales expectations. DS1 sold better than DS1, but a bulk of its sales were discounted (less revenue) and on PC, which PS didn't publish. As timed exclusives they also didn't drive console sales the way a permanent exclusive might. A lot of the folk Kojima was closest with at PlayStation, are also no longer at the company, which was also a factor. They signed on to make Physint, but during early production over the last few years "it has been missing milestones, it has been late on deadlines, it has been over budget, and it has not been living up to PlayStation's expectations", per multiple sources at PlayStation. There was also uncertainty about the games development, and Kojima was also asking for a lot of money fot it; in the hundreds of millions. These things coupled with difficult discussions about exclusivity windows (PS don't do PC releases for SP any more), ultimately led to PS cancelling. The other thing is that with increasing AI shortage prices and PS not expecting to sell as many future consoles, they are now trying to maximise profitability and revenue per user, in other words, less risk averse. Post Concord, PlayStation also has much more rigorous process with production milestones and development assessment, hence are much more privy to cancellations if targets aren't met, unlike previously where they may have let things run. Kojima perspective: Kojima feels games are near enough always late and over budget, especially if you want award winning, prestige building, critically acclaimed or stand out games. Jason even concurs with this notion. The previous regime at PlayStation was more open to Kojima and this type of project flexibility, whereas the new regime is tightening the purse and wanting stricter controls. The new PS regimes personalities also clash more with Kojima. Xbox perspective: For Xbox, this is a play for more of the Asian market, both Japan and China. They also see potenial benefit in the movie and film production side of things, and want more exposure to that sector with Kojima. Unlike PlayStation, they are also happy to publish on PC, hence push the PC platform and take any royalties that come with it, even if Steam takes a lionshare. So over the years as a Content Creator for World of Warcraft, I've picked up a few great camera tricks that can make your footage look more professional. Not sure how widely known these are but I'll share some that I know and hopefully it will be helpful to someone! So firstly, let me show you how to do a smooth rotation shot. You're going to want to create a Macro for this with this script; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) To modify the direction, you can change the word "Right" to Left, In, Out, Up or Down. The number at the end indicates the speed of the rotation, the higher the number the faster the rotation. I tend to keep this fairly low for a nice non-sickening rotation. Now you can combine as many of these as you like. So if you wanted a smooth shot that zoomed in on your Character while rotating Right you would make a macro like this; /script MoveViewRightStart(0.15) /script MoveViewInStart(0.15) It is fun to play around with but you will also need to create a "Stop" macro. I go with a generic one like this which will stop all rotation in all directions; /script MoveViewLeftStop() /script MoveViewDownStop() /script MoveViewRightStop() /script MoveViewUpStop() /script MoveViewInStop() /script MoveViewOutStop() Another trick to get the best possible shots of areas or up close combat is to hide your Character model. One often-forgotten legend in gaming is Geoff Crammond. Some of his games are pure genius and absolute classics, not just in terms of concept and gameplay, but especially considering what he was able to get out of systems with very limited resoruces. One of those early titles was The Sentinel (1986), a masterful 3D polygon puzzle-strategy game. You control a Synthoid robot, absorbing energy from the terrain to create new bodies and teleport uphill. The giant Sentinel scans slowly from the highest peak - if it spots you, it drains your energy. Your goal is to reach the top, absorb the Sentinel, and hyperspace to the next level. Crammond’s genius also gave us Revs, Stunt Car Racer, and the unforgettable Grand Prix franchise - the earlier ones mostly done in solo development. While many of the big blockbuster games were team efforts, Crammond would remain mostly a solo developer for most of his career. He stayed relatively quiet for many years after 2002, but in December 2025 it was announced that MicroProse had reunited with Crammond for updated rereleases of all four Grand Prix games, set for release on Steam in 2026.

Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reports on PlayStation's myriad live service failings. He reports Bungie had "a whole bunch of live service games in the works", "five or six", at the time they were acquired, but that "for a variety of reasons", which he'll detail in a story later, "most of those projects fell apart". On Naughty Dog, he reports most of the studio was working on Last of Us Online and remakes/remasters before it was cancelled. That it wasn't just a small side project, and is in-fact a key reason Intergalactic isn't out yet. "I think there's a belief out there that The Last of Us Online was just kind of a side project while most people were working on Intergalactic. No, the opposite is true." "Intergalactic did not have the majority of staff until after Last of Us Online was cancelled. And then most people on the studio came over to work on Intergalactic.....which is why we haven't seen a brand new game from them since 2020." He also reports Guerrilla Games live service game Horizon Hunters Gatherering is now being "rebooted" to a more traditional co-op game, no longer live service, following negative play tests, and that it may even be cancelled if it isn't sorted before the end of the year. He adds that the GG's "next mainline single-player Horizon game, is still far, far away" He reports Sony Bend is still working on a new project following their live service project being canned. He also re-touched on Bluepoint's live service game being cancelled, as well as the Twisted Metal Live service game too. Either way, there's been some truly awful project management with Sony's live service push, that has cost even the single player bread and butter side of things. Had Bluepoint not been working on the now cancelled God of War live service game instead of solely Sony Santa Monica, perhaps God of War Laufey would have been much further away too, the way Last of Us Online and Hunters Gathering impacted Guerrilla Games and Naughty Dog. All I can say is, PlayStation is lucky Xbox, whom are seemingly never happy letting PlayStation take the fuck up limelight, spectacularly dropped the ball this gen in a somehow even worse way, else Xbox could have actually encroached on PS5 marketshare. This gen ironically was actually one of Xbox's best opportunities to hurt PlayStation, admidst their numerous blunders, especially with the stock shortages early in the gen. Full link:

Deadlock is starting to develop one of the most hostile communities toward newcomers, and that honestly worries me a lot. The funny clip I posted of myself dying to a Maroon 5’s Animals blasting Silver when I first started playing ended up going viral on Deadlock Intel’s YouTube and Twitter. Instead of focusing on the joke mod or the Hatsune Miku Bebop skin, people hyper focused on my non existent movement. And they weren’t even giving real advice. They were just being mean about it. Telling me to stick to bot matches to not ruin my friends games and ect. If this keeps up when the game releases, Deadlock is quickly going to earn a reputation similar to League of Legends or Dead by Daylight when it comes to community hostility. I really do not want that, because I genuinely love this game and everything Valve is building. The characters, the gameplay, the lore, it is all incredible. I want people to see Deadlock for that, not for how awful some players can be. The game is still in alpha, and it is very telling that this kind of behavior is already showing up before release. I am fine with trash talk in game. That is part of gaming culture. A lot of games have tried to overly sanitize in game interactions to an almost Orwellian degree with heavy AI moderation. That kind of big brother approach is not really really bad. But there is a big difference between competitive trash talk in a match and people going out of their way to be awful to others outside the game, especially toward new players. That kind of behavior does real damage to a growing community. Deadlock is a Valve game. It is going to live forever. What I want is for it to be known for its depth, creativity, and incredible design, not for eating new players alive before they even get a real chance to enjoy it and learn. This game is fantastic and already a masterpiece to me. I'm new I can get better. I will get better. #deadlock

She's smart, but she's wrong. It's far worse for women than she projects. Every single one of the top men is already fucking somebody who is madly in love with them. Probably 3 girls at least share him and do anything he says while remaining absolutely loyal. If you want one of those men, you have to out-compete the 3 wives along with the 50 girls trying to get him. Precisely zero are single ever. To get a top man you have to first compete for the hareem, then to get him exclusive you must out-compete the hareem. A multi-year process. The alternative is simple - Choose a faithful and trusty loser. Nissans are more reliable than Ferraris. Maybe if you're lucky you'll get a BMW, it's not embarrassing to drive and people think it's good at a glance - but on closer inspection, it becomes very clear. It's still not a Ferrari. And the BMW man will still cheat anyway. I mean, you could argue he would cheat "less" but does that even matter? BMW man is more likely to fall in love with some idiot girl and leave you for her. Ferrari man won't. Can't be swayed by titties. Doesn't care. The years of dedication you have shown him can not be replaced by tits because he has endless access to tits unlike the BMW man who really isn't all that and you've had to settle for him because you know the Ferrari man is going to cheat and MAYBE the BMW man won't cheat... John Carmack: The code for AGI could conceivably be written by one individual After stepping down as CTO of Meta’s Oculus VR, legendary programmer John Carmack was trying to decide if he would work on nuclear fission or artificial general intelligence (AGI). He ultimately chose AGI. “I think [fission] is possible,” John says. “Somebody should be doing this, but it’s going to involve some politics, decent-sized teams, and a bunch of cross-functional stuff that I don’t love. While artificial general intelligence seems to me like the highest-leverage moment for a single individual potentially in the history of the world.” He explains: “With the things we know about the brain and what we can do with artificial intelligence . . . I’m not a madman for saying that it is likely that the code for artificial general intelligence is going to be tens of thousands of lines of code — not millions of lines of code.” He continues: “This is code that conceivably one individual could write, unlike writing a new web browser or operating system. And based on the progress that machine learning has made in the recent decade, it’s likely that the important things that we don’t know are relatively simple. There’s probably a handful of things — my bet is there’s less than six key insights — that need to be made. Each one of them can probably be written on the back of an envelope.
