It’s wild because I really was somewhere in the middle - in that if “not guilty by reason of insanity” exists as a defense, this would be one of those cases where it could understandably be applied. But listening to the mental gymnastics of these jurors… “we had to square how she could do it in such a calculated, premeditated, and deliberate manner with psychosis” (paraphrasing). Those eight jurors who did everything they could to bully the single holdout came in from the conclusion of “not guilty by reason of insanity” and did everything they could to re-interpret what they are now acknowledging was the evidence of premeditation in light of that forgone conclusion.
