A group of marines on a training exercise stumbled upon a climber curled up in the snow in freezing conditions on Ben Nevis. The team, which consisted of Scottish Royal Marine Reserves (RMR) and the Dutch Korps Mariniers, had summited Britain’s highest mountain in Gale Force 8 winds with one metre visibility on 24 January when they noticed the man.

Today is the anniversary of the Battle of Isandlwana. Zulu forces overwhelmed and destroyed a British invasion column, inflicting one of the worst defeats ever suffered by the British Army against an indigenous force. Today the Royal Welsh, which is the regiment that evolved from the 24th Regiment of Foot, met with a Zulu Impi on the mountain to exchange pleasantries and mutual respect. This is what makes the world a better place.

It’s one of Pakistan’s most modern main operational bases hosting squadrons of F-16 and JF-17 fighter jets along with SAAB 2000 AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control) aircraft. It’s strategically significant for supporting Pakistan Army land operations and Pakistan Navy maritime operations, particularly in safeguarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It’s the deepest Indian Air Force strike against Pakistan so far.

Something unusual appears to be going on today at RAF Fairford near Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom, with at least 10 C-17A Globemaster IIIs with the U.S. Air Force arriving at the base or currently crossing the Atlantic from the United States. Almost all of the C-17s appear to be out of either Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, the home of the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and the 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR); or Campbell Army Airfield in Kentucky, which houses the 101st Airborne Division and the 1st/2nd Battalions of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR).

Exercise DUSTLIK 2026 - the 7th edition of the India-Uzbekistan joint military exercise, is being conducted at the Gurumsaray Field Training Area, Namangan, Uzbekistan, from 12 to 25 April 2026. The exercise is aimed at enhancing interoperability and joint operational capability in semi-mountainous terrain, with focus on joint planning, tactical drills, special arms skills and special operations against unlawful armed groups. During the exercise, troops of both contingents have undertaken area familiarisation, exchange of tactics, techniques and procedures, ambidextrous pistol firing, reflex shooting, RPG firing, unarmed combat, bayonet fighting, UAV application, Fire and Move drills in urban terrain, Combat Casualty Evacuation, reconnaissance and surveillance, house intervention drills, mountaineering, rappelling, sniper training and navigation exercises to strengthen tactical synergy and operational readiness. Physical endurance and team spirit have also been reinforced through runs, calisthenics, yoga and other confidence-building activities. In the coming days, the exercise is expected to advance to more complex joint missions in semi-mountainous terrain, including strike operations against hostile objectives, capture of designated targets, heliborne employment, establishment of a joint command and control structure and validation of integrated special operations procedures, further deepening coordination and interoperability between the Indian Army and the Uzbekistan Army.
