Spent way too much time on this… worth it? 👀

my 2¢: It's too slow. Assuming this is an interaction you do a lot, it becomes quite annoying after a while. All of this would be better as a sidebar or panel that has most, if not all of the options permanently visible.

Fair point! The “assuming you do it a lot” part is the key question. The product itself isn’t meant to be a design tool like Figma, but a canvas-first presentation tool with a much smaller set of controls. Frequent adjustments already live directly on the canvas, though repeated access could still feel slow. I’m considering a faster transition and/or a pinnable sidebar for heavier use. Really appreciate the honest 2¢ 🙏

It doesn't feel smooth imo

I think yes the panel and the content appearing have different transition so the text appears first then the windows shrinks/expand. The second issue here is transition is happening after a delay (or lag) from one state to another which makes it look not smooth.

You were right! I’d made it too heavy trying to give it more impact, plus added a hover delay to avoid accidentally opening adjacent panels. I’ve reworked both, and it feels much smoother now. Here’s the updated version, thanks for the sharp feedback! 🙏

100% worth it. However, the nubbin/arrow on the floating panels doesn’t work visually when it sits over a white+gray area, like in the "Frame" panel. I’d also consider using a different font for the body copy, with a higher x-height and a more modern look.

You’re a proper UI investigator 😄 That damn arrow is the one detail I’m still fighting with. And great catch on Nunito, it slipped in by accident. Figtree was always the intended choice. Do you think this works better for the body copy, or would you suggest something else?

great work! what if u add a little blur effect on the components while switching makes it kinda smooth as its not an app like figma- just a suggetion.

Once everything is consolidated and feeling fast and fluid, I’ll experiment with a subtle blur, probably using one of the fantastic transitions from by @Jakubantalik 😄
